Okay, so Vala didn't have babies yesterday
but we have Bronte who should be giving birth in the next fortnight, so what I am going to say next probably doesn't make a lot of sense...
We popped into P@H today, just to pick up some cat litter. As soon as we got through the door, one of the assistants raced up to me and said "Oh great, I've been looking out for you since last weekend, I really want to talk to you about something" He then explained that they had, in the back, a russian dwarf who appeared to have 'brain damage'. He said he had spoken to the manager who intended to put the poor thing to sleep as it was agreed that they couldn't re-home it, even as an adoption, to someone who wouldn't possibly understand all its need etc. The assistant had got the manager to agree to hold off for a week or so just in case he could get 'some hamster people he knew' to take it.
So guess who these people were?? Yup you got it! Well hearing that, we agreed to have a look and, of course, once we had a look we couldn't send the little mite back to certain doom, so I would love to introduce Bubbagump.
From what I can see s/he (we haven't sexed it yet) is a sapphire WW, however I think it may well be hybrid as the coat has an almost pinky quality, much lighter than our Smirnoff! S/he has a permanent nodding dog action, and is a bit shaky (plus the head is slightly 'uneven') however, whether for 2 days or 2 years, it will have a loving home with us. S/he is now settling into our spare Criceto Bernie Deluxe, and because of the possible neurological problem we have turned the house round so that it sits on the floor. Anyway - here are some pics and I would love to hear whether you think hybrid or not?
