Our adopted robo Dottie always has food in her pouches but as soon as you handle her she spits all the seeds in to your hand. She also has Harry at the moment plus we supplement with small seed mix from a health food store and she has a millet spray which is her favourite thing ever! I wouldn't worry about the food as yours sounds to be eating well on it.

Thanks, Ria P. I'd like to try those when I need some more. I've just bought a new pack of white, although at the moment she is living in the last of the purple (I know, I know, just one of those moments....although she doesn't seem to mind!)

I'd really like to do something different with the enclosure layout. Just now she has about one-third of the tank with 4-5 inches substrate in, and she loves burrowing in that. The other two-thirds is laid out like a playground, with wood chips on the base and toys, climbing frame, coconut shell etc (and she uses them all). I'd like to give her some more hamster-like "natural" hides, so am looking at cage layouts on here to give me some ideas.

Thank you all for the advice, I think I was just being paranoid and he hadn’t chosen his hoarding place yet and so was still carrying it around in his pouches. He’s now hoarding behind his wheel in the sand (like every hamster I’ve had lol). I will also be switching him from HH onto my homemade mix because I prefer them having a more natural diet.

He seems to have settled in quite well and I’ve seen him out quite a bit (and he’s finally figured out the bottle and wheel). He’s made a little nest under his strawberry house and another one under the yellow beach hut (two of Jasper’s favourites). I plan to start taming him tonight and I’ve finally picked a name for him, which I’ll announce later when I create a proper thread for him.
