Hiding Robo?
I recently got a female Robo and was having trouble getting her out of her little house. She does come out for eating/drinking/playing when no one is around. But whenever I get close to the cage she just run straight to her house and hide.
I understand it takes time and patience to get a Robo tamed. But the problem is, I haven't seen any pee or poop any where in the cage. It's been a week already and I'm suspecting she's going to the toilet...inside her house! There's no way I can check or clean her house since she's always hiding inside when I'm around.
Anyone had similar experience? I'm getting worried about her hygiene.

Re: Hiding Robo?
Does she have a sand bath? They'll often use them as a toilet.
If she is going in her house, they produce very little urine so if it's only been a few days I wouldn't be too worried yet. Obviously eventually you will have to get in there and clean it, but I would try to avoid lifting up her house if at all possible because it can really frighten them to have their nests disturbed like that.

Re: Hiding Robo?
I have a shy Robo and it took many months for him to feel comfortable and trusting enough to sit on my hand to eat a few seeds and let me stroke him. Soon as he can smell handcream he's off anyway so i have to wash my hands with unscented soap first. That's as far as we got taming wise and that may well be it, we'll see. Their pee seems to almost evaporate because they are so tiny so don't worry about finding her peeing spot for quite a while yet. Does she pee in her wheel or sand maybe? Make sure she has lots of substrate to burrow in and build tunnels.
Do the tissue trick and carry some tissue close to your body for a few hours then tear it into strips and drop it into your hamster's cage so she gets familiar with your scent.

Re: Hiding Robo?
Hi Sushi_78 and Ria P, thank you for your advice. Yep, she does have a sand bath but I don’t see any sign of pee. However, I have a hamster toilet in the cage and today I found out a tiny lump of sand clogged up inside. So finally, I see her pee for the first time. Hope she’s using the toilet from now on.
