Smile Wheel for Robo?

Hi all(:

I'm about to be a first time Robo owner in a couple of weeks !
I've never owned a Robo or hamster that small so I've no idea what size wheel I should be getting? I'm rehoming my friends as he doesn't have the time for it anymore so I've seen him and he's a tiny little thing.

I've been looking online at a 20cm trixie wheel and another wheel that's the silent spinner 6.5 inch but as I said I've no idea whats suitable and best for a Robo hence why I'm here for info before I take him(:

What wheel size do you use for your robos? Are either of the ones I suggest suitable? Is there such thing as too big ? I have a big wheel I used to use for my Syrian and my dwarf hybrid can use it but he finds it difficult to get it started which I wouldn't want the robo to have that issue (the dwarf has a smaller wheel now) and what brand would you recommend also(:

I think the smallest size recommended for dwarfs is a 6.5 inch wheel. You can definitely go up to 8 inches though and I feel like that would be better? So either one of those wheels should be suitable in size. I think whatever type of wheel and size you use for your hybrid dwarf should work well with your robo. I would choose the trixie wheel over the silent spinner though. Some people are not super fond of silent spinners, I have one for my Syrian and have not had any issues with it. The trixie wheel is just a bit bigger than the 6.5 inch silent spinner which I think would be good plus it has that covering on the front of it which can be recommended for dwarfs, especially robos, since they can run so fast and possibly get thrown from their wheel so the covering helps prevent that. I definitely wouldn't recommend anything larger than 8 inches just because they can have problems with starting it, like what happened with your hybrid dwarf. A lot of people also like the wodent wheel brand and I think it has the same covering as the trixie wheel.

Yeah I think the trixie 20cm one seems best hopefully he can run it okay he's super fast so the barriers on the wheel would definitely benefit him thanks a ton

I would say 8"/20cm minimum for any ham, even a robo, if it's a good quality wheel a tiny ham should have no problem getting going in a larger wheel.
The Trixie wheels are ok but can vary in quality I've found, the Rodipet wheel is an ideal wheel for a robo but would need painting with Plastikote to pee proof it.

I always used my 6.5" Silent Spinners for either my mice or my dwarf hamsters and my two Robos (single males owned at different times) were both given this wheel and managed racing on it and stopping it fine. Some Robos will speed away and `learn` how to use a silent spinner once they realise how fast it goes! I can`t comment on the other wheels as I`ve no experience of them but I suppose it`s a matter of trying one and if it`s too slow or a Robo isn`t strong enough to make it spin, the SS wheel is going to work best.

P.S: A tip also with SS wheels is before puting one into use, take some superglue and gently `prize` the two sections apart with a blunt knife and place some glue between the cracks which prevent the two sections from making a clattering noise when in use. I found this worked well as the SS wheel clips together (although I never pulled both parts apart) but sometimes found that the wheel made a `clacking` type noise when in use. Supergluing around the middle stops this. Just place the glue into the cracks, turn the wheel onto it`s face and place a heavy book on top until the glue fully dries. Works great.
