Default Cages for Robos. Your Testimonies.

Hi,

I recently got asked by someone who want's to purchase robos from me if a habitrail mini is good for them. I told her I didn't think so b/c it didn't offer enough running room (I dont know if they are capable of climbing those tubes) and that a 20 gallon tank would be optimal b/c of the floor space and great view to watch them play.

What are your thoughts on the habitrail? How do you keep your robos? I love the 20 gallon tank b/c if you fix it up nice inside, it creates a great showcase for anyone to watch. Wheel, a few toys, a sand bath.

I told her I'd get back to her on that. Let me know what you think. You guys are a lot more experienced then me!

Thanks!

When I had my Robos I had them in a duna tank which was brilliant for space for them and was almost like a tank.

Here's a couple pictures

Is that not a Gabbar Rex FM as it looks like our Syrians rexes. They are great for all types. Nice and spacious and not easy to get out of. I'd highly recommend them.

I have had a few Roborovski escape from my Gabber Rex over the years but I still use only them to house them. They can literally jump and climb anything then squeeze eventually through the bars, after hanging chewing for ages, so I now have a piece of small mesh on top of the normal wire lid.

I have used for my robos

- mouse-barred wire cages (0.5cm spacing)

- a duna-style cage, I think it's by fop, that also has 0.5cm spaced bars in the roof

- tanks - tanks are my favourite

I wouldn't go for habitrail - I think it would be difficult to safely catch the animals.

Fun looking home you got for your robo's Flogging_molly. I haven't seen those nice colourful plastic ladders/shelters like the ones you have.

I've also never seen a duna tank here... they look nice though. Must be easier to lift and clean then a glass tank.

I think tanks are the best as well (duna style or whichever), since robos are so small you want to be able to see them easily. Good point about if you wanted to catch them Emma.

So none of you would recomend a habitrail? Although they are small, if you connect enough tubes it also adds a lot of floor space and out of sight distance when the robos need some alone time. (That's if they can climb some of those tubes).

I got a group of Roborovski in as rescues in a Habitrail and they never used the tubes just lived in the main section and looked rather sweaty.

I have 3 of my robos in duna tanks and one in a 5litreish sized aquarium (its got loads of running space anyway) When my robos lived together I had them in a 5 ft long aquarium and they just loved to run around in there.

I don't think barred cages are good for robos as they are so small that they will not find it too hard to squeeze through the bars and escape.

Tanks are my favourite home for them as they can't escape. Just make sure that there is lots of running space.

my robos live in a mixture, some live in stack boxes, with silent spinners etc, some live in rotastack, two rounds and a kidney each with ladders, but then they are all seperate at the moment, due to fighting, i am sure rotastak is bad for more than one robo, makes them more territorial over a certain area, though the big tubs worked well with them... untill recently
