New to Robos
Hello!
I have had several hybrid dwarfs before (mainly adult rescues), but now I wanted to finally get myself a Robo.
I thought that I had done all the research that I could, but I was NOT expecting this huuuge amount of energy and zooming around.
So, how much is it normal that a robo uses his wheel? Mine was running for at least 6 hours straight, with just a couple of snack breaks last night, and that's about 5 hours more than all of the hamsters I have had before. I have only had him for two nights, and the first night i went to sleep before he woke up, but yesterday i stayed awake to see how long he would keep it going. He is about two months old.
I have no expectations to get him tame, but it would be nice if he could take treats from my hand, and be able to sheperd him into a cup for moving when the cage needs thorough cleaning, without too much stress.
How active are your Robo?

Re: New to Robos
Welcome to HC Robos are very active and it’s not unusual for them to use the wheel a lot especially during the first couple of days, he’ll be quite stressed still after just moving in so best to just wait and see how he is over the next week. Just make sure he has a large dark hide he can retreat to to feel safe. My robo is around 2 years old and will still spend a couple of hours on the wheel at night. Taming just takes time, for now you can talk to him gently and once he’s settled you can think about taming more, they can get very nervous of hands so best take it slowly.

Re: New to Robos
Hi! Thanks for your answers. He does seem a little calmer today. I had to change the water bowl today, and he does not seem scared by my hand, as long as i do not approach him. He approached me a couple of times, sniffed me and went back to searching for food. (I scatter) he has not figured out the water bottle yet, so im using a teeny water bowl together with the bottle to be sure he gets enough.
He has a large Dark den, but he moved the nest material to the corner behind the wheel and digs down to sleep there.
