We are using plenty of bedding, Monty just moves literally ALL of his bedding out from some areas, he seems to like 'digging' and not recovering patches and sleeping in corners or under his bridge or in his house on the plastic floor (It's all similar feeling as the house came with the cage) so it's whatbhe decides to do... I just try to cover up the larger patches (like the biggest patch yet yesterday in front of his wheel, no clue how or why he did it) to keep him safe... it's a strange habit of his...

Ha ha - our robo used to build a big mountain of bedding under his shelf and then tunnel down into it - he didn't manage to make a bare patch though I think it's them saying - they want it deep enough to dig a tunnel or burrow - at least at one end.

Our Robo has a big labyrinth house now and doesnt do the substrate shifting any more - the house has made him lazy!

Haha yeah... we changed over to the flying saucer perminantly last night, it was put against the wall just to get him used to it overnight and make sure he's safe - it meant he didn't fly off it overnight and hurt himself. We're planning on moving it away when we get home tonight and see how he goes. The rattling is annoying now!

We put in some more substrate last night to fill the massive patch he made again. I'm actually now thinking it's also partly the wheel stand's fault but it's a new stand with this wheel so we will never know. There's more in now though.

That sounds like it'd be the same for Monty! Sounds like a nice house, and that does make you lazy sometimes! But pretty good that he doesn't shift though... sounds like a good change!

Robos really do need substrate atleast 5-8inches because they LOVE to burrow. My Robo Sundae has built a maze of tunnels going through the entirety of his substrate!

Yeah, we've added more and he's much happier, so it's looking up!

The new wheel is going down a storm with Monty! It's looking like good progress

Thanks for the advice.

If your hamster is going to be in your room I’d suggest a flying suacer as there very quiet or a silent spinner would be a bit of a better option for the hamster but could be quite noisey and harder for your hamster to push
