As I’ve said I don’t have money to spare right now so £50+ is just out of the question. The only pet shop I have near by is pets at home or the poundstretcher pet hut. Do Ikea have anything else I could use? There’s one not too far from here. 50x80 is the maximum amount of space I have to fit him in as he stays on top of my chest of drawers. I think for peace of mind I’d like something with basically no bars or only bars on the top so he can’t get to them. Is the savic spelos XL too small?

Savic Spelos XL will be okay as a temporary cage until you can afford soemthing bigger (same with the cages I mentioned earlier) but its an awkward shape and the water bottle that came with it is very leaky.
You could get the largest Ikea Samla bin for around £10 to make a bin cage.
My robo is in the Duna Multy which he loves! Theres only bars at the top of the cage and lots of burrowing space. It’s just under 80x 50 but its around £45ish so if you can get a large bin for cheaper, I recommend doing that.

I found this cage on amazon as you have prime (not sure how good it is though):
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Little-Frie...419158031&th=1
There is also a savic cage 80x50 but thats £60 so I didn't link it.

Re: ESCAPEE RON! New cage??
I keep one of my robos in the grosvenor atm. I have had baby robos in there no problem. It is great cage. Reslly easy to clean out with its top opening lid. Easy to fold down for transporting too.

My favourite cage for robos is the Duna Multy, inexpensive, lots of space for deep substrate, and narrow bar spacing.

Actually, you don't need a cover for the detolf with dwarves. Gaby's detolf doesn't have a lid and I know for a fact there's no way she can climb up. She had tried scaling the metal supports at first, but has long since given up.

Re: ESCAPEE RON! New cage??
I'm just really worried about anything with bars as he somehow managed to escape and his bars are definitely 1cm MAX between them!
Has anyone used this? https://www.amazon.co.uk/ROSEWOOD-Ha...0-4000It's a Rosewood Pico with 8.5mm bar spacing. I'm just not sure about getting another one with bars but they're really all that's in my price range unfortunately.
The other thing I was thinking of was perhaps trying to cover the bars his cage with some kind of mesh or chicken wire, any thoughts?

Another option which I think seems good and affordable too is this: https://erinshamsters.wixsite.com/ha...kea-billy-cage
Has anyone done something like this?

The size is okay for a temporary cage but far too small for something permanent. Plus, robos arent very agile so i would worry with all the tall platforms.
Meshing should stop him escaping but I imagine it would be prety awkard to mesh a triangular cage tbh
Honestly, I think its best just to get a cheap £10 bin from ikea, argos or wilko (you should easily be able to get one thats betweem 60x40 and 80x50) for now and then save up for something better.
Even a small bin will allow for much deeper bedding than most cheaper cages and theres no bars! All you need to make a bin cage is a bin, some mesh, cable ties, and a hot knife.

Re: ESCAPEE RON! New cage??
Thanks again for everyone’s advice! I agree with the mesh on a triangular cage being difficult alpacassei, I think it’s better to just get a new one! I’m going to go for the Ikea Billy, it’s a perfect size for my room, more sleek than his current cage, and easy to build! I’ll update with pictures when it’s built!
