Ah the detolf. Lucky hamster. Good idea to have a lighter weight holiday cage.

Little one has had a stressful few days - firstly a 4.5 hour drive back to my place, then a cage change along with a new setup and new bedding (last two my fault - forgot her previous set up and also forgot to buy the usual bedding!). Felt awful and gave her lots of treats and settling down time but she’s handled it brilliantly as usual. She actually travels that distance with me every few months which I always dread, but she now sleeps through it which is great.
Amazingly she’s coming along well in terms of hands in her cage and picking her up outside of the cage. Very proud of her and only been doing it a few days. Got a little playpen and it’s helped a lot. Still a bit of a nibbler but I’m perfectly happy with that!

This is her coconut which she adores. It’s possibly one of the worst huts she could’ve chosen to sleep in hygiene wise, and believe me I’ve tried to change her mind a hundred times but she won’t have it! I tried boiling the thing to sanitise it and she turned her nose up and went to sleep in an underground tunnel - even worse! Had to remove that unfortunately and I’m now buying these coconut houses regularly to switch them out to prevent her from sleeping underground in a plastic tunnel again lol. Cant say no to this face! She actually doesn’t like cameras which is why I only get about one photo at a time before she gets nervous. Thought she looked extra fluffy here though

She does look very sweet in her coconut, it does look perfect for her so I can't say I blame her for wanting to sleep in it!
Good to hear she's handled the stress so well & taming is coming on well too.

OMG, wow that fluffy face of yours is just TOO adorable, Choco! Don't worry if you only allow your amazing mum to take one photo of you to share with all of us; it only takes one to have us be in total cuteness overload and being all giddy, oohing and ahhing at your darling face, lol! You look absolutely glorious with your snowy-white fur, mesmerizing eyes, and your amazing whiskers. I just love you and totally understand how your mom finds it impossible to say no to your cute and charming face. The coconut bedroom looks perfect for you sleeping quarters. You are so lucky to have such a devoted and loving mum to keep purchasing new ones for you to enjoy and feel pampered in. Be sure to give her lots of love and whisker kisses to let her know how much you appreciate her. Have fun, fluffy!

Mangoandmimi, I'm so glad that Choco has adapted so well to her changes and the long drives. She is being a darling. I'm so pleased that taming is going well, too. Congrats to you both.

She's so beautiful, that little fluffy adorable face in her favourite toy the coconut is bliss!
Twinkle used to sleep in her coconut and it did get a bit smelly, I always had a backup coconut when it did. She used her coconut right up till she passed away.

Thank you both. So I realise this isn’t really the place to post this but I still go through spells of really missing my past hamsters so I thought I’d put them altogether here. This is for myself more than anything but thought it might be interesting anyway.

Pearl. My first hamster - I was 11! She was before my HC time, I learnt so much since having Pearl. She was a wonderful first hamster and I’m so lucky to have had her.

Mango. The most placid, sweetest boy I’ve ever had - loved this guy to pieces. He would potter about and was always so relaxed and happy. Thinking back I’d love to have another Syrian.

Mimi. You can now see where my username originated from lol. She was my energetic, adventurous girlie who wouldn’t sit still for a second! Constantly wanted to come out and play which was always a lot of fun.

Pip & Pop. These girls were amazing, they did everything together and are the reason I have a roborovski today! Pip was happy to be handled and come out which was lovely. Pop was a wild little thing! But so photogenic that actually most my photos are of her lol.
Pip:

Pop:

Sapphire & Topaz. These two winter whites I picked up at a Bath hamster show. Originally I wanted one but couldn’t face leaving Topaz - who promptly turned out to be a bully! They were quickly separated but it allowed their entirely different personalities to shine through. Saphy was the cuddliest, sweetest girlie who completely melted my heart. Topaz was a little terror - always full of mischief and so demanding, she lived like a queen!
Saph:

Topaz:

Pumpkin. Hybrid grumpkin was really my sister’s but I treated him like my own. He was a nippy little thing and it took so long to earn his trust but at the end, it was completely worth it. He was such a sweetheart and grump at the same time!

Bamboo. Also came back from a Bath show a few years later. She was so shy, and it took a lot of time but in the end she came round and enjoyed her cuddles and climbing all over me. Would love to have another Chinese at some point, they’re such amazing hamsters. (The time stamp on this pic is several years out not sure why!)

Boppit. Although not a hamster, she was certainly part of the hamily. She was a ball of energy and had the loveliest nature. I ended up with her as she had a litter and her previous owner got a bit overrun with gerbils!

At one point I had seven of them at once - I must’ve lost the plot but it was the best experience. Could definitely not do it again though. Others came and went too who I’ll always remember, but these guys were my original hamster family and I’ll never forget any of them.

Lovely to see some of your other hamsters & Boppit, it's good to look back & remember the good times when we miss them so much. What gorgeous little furries they all are!
I've seen Bamboo before & she really was a beauty but I think most of all that picture of grumpy Pumpkin just melted my heart totally!
