Re: Nugget's thread
Congrats on Nugget, I love him already
His set up looks fantastic and I'm sure he'll have lots of fun exploring and making the Kerry his home
Is his log tunnel one of the cork ones? I always fancy them but worry about bugs being on them
Hope he settles in quickly. It's nice that you included Charlie in his names but he defintely suits Nugget

Re: Nugget's thread
Thanks BP. Yes it's a cork log. I stick them in the freezer for a week - don't know if it works but never had a problem doing that

Re: Nugget's thread
OMG congratulations on your very tiny addition. I'm so in love with him. So love his very long name and that Charlie is one of them. But Nugget so suits him.
Where did you get his tank/home from? It's beautiful! Loved the videos too. Have you managed to hold him?

Re: Nugget's thread
Thank you TL. Yes he is totally adorable. I think he may have used his wheel last night as the bit of substrate on top was gone (I had put some pumpkin seeds in it). This morning he emerged from the log tunnel when he heard me talking and stood there for quite a while listening and looked quite happy. Then disappeared again. His veg was taken last night as well and I assume he has found the water bottle! I got the Ferplast sippy because it attaches to the tank so I hope it's ok for him. It's the Kerry Terrarium. I really wanted the Marrakesch but had to compromise. I am happy with the Kerry for him and it's an upgrade from what he had before.
No I haven't held him yet - I am itching too lol. He seemed a bit scared of hands and his former Mum had problems catching him to get him out of his old cage. Apparently he got very skitty after his two brothers were taken out. Before that she had handled them regularly. In the end he went in his house and she lifted the house into the pet carrier. When we got back I put the palm of my hand in the pet carrier with some treats on but he just ran away, so I let him walk into a mug and popped him in the cage that way. Maybe when he's had a few days to settle in the cage I'll try some hand taming. I'm not surprised he's a bit scared of hands at the moment - they had to be sexed and also taken to the vets to check the sexing before going to their homes.

Congratulations Serendipity on little Nugget! He's absolutely adorable (but then all robos are ). I hope he settles in quickly. Also I do love his cage set up. It looks really nice.

Re: Nugget's thread
Thank you Chesca I found a few seeds in his sand bath earlier so looks like he used that last night as well and had a snack in there.

Re: Nugget's thread
Listening to you talking to him, you have such a soothing voice and seeing him so made me smile.

Re: Nugget's thread
Thank you TL - I forgot you could hear me talking lol. I have the sound permanently turned off on my laptop so when I watch videos I just watch and don't hear - eek what did I say?! I also thought he really responded to my voice yesterday - he sat for ages looking at me while I was talking. Then grabbed a bit of Fitch and went down his tunnel. I think he has chosen that cork log as his entrance to his "house" which is the space under the shelf.
I didn't see him last night but today the veg has gone and the treats in the wheel and I think he's used the wheel and the sandbath - the bit of paper gone from the top of the wheel and a bit of food in the sandbath.
It's hard leaving them alone for a few days to settle in!

Re: Nugget's thread
Congrats on tiny, TINY Nugget, lol! He is such a cutie. I'm so happy for you and your family. He is SO adorable and I love this little guy already. I love the name you chose, both the long and the short version. It is sweet that Charlie is part of his name as a tribute to such a remarkable ham that was so beloved, but I totally understand why you refer to this little one as Nugget. It suits him very well. I also love his cage setup. There is tons of wonderful things to keep him thoroughly busy exploring. Great videos and pics, too.

Re: Nugget's thread
Thank you Dreamtree Stepson was here tonight and asked what the new robo was called in the end. So I said - well - you liked Charlie Junior and I liked Hero and Nugget ..... and he said Nugget! I like that, call him Nugget! So I said well he's called Charlie Hero Nugget Junior - and he said - but we're calling him Nugget. Whew! Glad he approved!
