Nugget is a little star. It was time I did some spot cleaning and investigated where he might be peeing - no whiffy smells and I haven't been in his house much for a while. So I lifted the tile from the roof (he then pops up to see what's going on). And when he saw I was doing something in the cage he went and sat under his ladder behind his coconut and watched.
Anyway - he is a star - he's been using the little toilet in the house - and when it got a bit full he put substrate over it and carried on peeing there. So not much spot cleaning at all and from now on I can just empty his wee potty. I am so proud of him!
I put the little potty of sand in there when I put the house in but didn't really expect him to use it as a pee place. His sand bath is where he does most of his poops - so he really is a clean little boy!
Anyway - a positive upheaval for Nugget this time - lots of treats afterwards and a clean potty. So hopefully he'll now get used to someone doing things in the cage as not being such a scary thing.

Aw bless little Nugget. Such a clean boy toileting in the right areas, very sensible of him Although sometimes I have to wonder whether robos pee at all since it never seems to smell!

I know - which is why I don't feel so bad about leaving it so long to check where he was peeing ha ha. And he has so much substrate in there it kind of sorts itself out - but it was definitely whiffy in the potty area.

Well done Nugget for being such a little star
It's great that things went so well this time, it does take time but I think every positive interaction helps so hopefully he won't find things so scary now.

I agree, top of the class Nugget! Not easy to know what a robo gets up to in the bathroom department. Using his potty properly...I am envious!
