Daffodil has moved out of the communal nest
I recently adopted 3 female robos from gumtree. They have been living together for sometime. They have been added in when the previous owners friend had an oops litter. The oldest, Seren is 18 months old. Daffodil is smaller and Maple is really tiny and whizzes everywhere.
I have seen all of them wrestling at various times but no noise and it is always over quickly. Maple is always slow to come out and forage. All 3 like to play on one of their flying saucer wheels at the same rime!
Daffodil recently made a separate nest for herself. Could it be a sign that she wants to be separate or is it just a natural behaviour?

Re: Daffodil has moved out of the communal nest
Does Daffodil still interact ok with the others ff? If she does then it might be worth leaving them for a while & see how it goes, if she doesn't then maybe time to give her a place of her own..
If you do separate her from the others it could change things between them too so keep a close eye on their behaviour as well.

Re: Daffodil has moved out of the communal nest
Making nests by themselves is normal for sure I've been following Chocolate Colors 26, now Victoria Rachael. She had a pair of Russian living together. She had houses with a couple of entry & exit holes. But she said they make their own nests but she found it cute when they did sleep together. She was successful with keeping them together but one of them passed away now. If you watch her you'd have to go back a year probably now.
No worries at all!

Re: Daffodil has moved out of the communal nest
Yes Cypher she does interact. She and Seren always come and forage as soon as I feed them. They all come out together later on and seem fine apart from the odd wrestle.
I separated Flower and Fairy due to wrestles and Flower was soooo much happier.
Wish they had space for an upright wheel. I could make space but would need to remove a lot of fitch. If only they could all move into the elmo but I know that it was a big cage that contributed to F and F falling out.
CB thankyou for your encouragement. I really like Victoria Raechels vids. Will check that one out later.

They seem happy thin lizzy but every now and then Seren will get Maple onto her back. Sometimes S puts Daff on her back. Guess there will always be a boss ...
Put Flowers old wooden wheel in tonight. They !ove it!

They really do sound content and have a fondness for each other, so cute they're enjoying the wheel.

Re: Daffodil has moved out of the communal nest
Ha managed to fit Fairys wooden whhel in their cage. Very popular! They now have that and a flying saucer. All in the same nest last night.
Seren and Daffodil came out to forage when I fed them this morning. Maple only comes out at night once the others have had a good old forage. No wonder she is so small.

Re: Daffodil has moved out of the communal nest
FF, could you try 2 different food bowls? Or maybe Maple wouldn't come out even if she had more access for food, if she already has her routine, then maybe the extra food dish wouldn't matter? Excuse this if you already have 2 food bowls, 3 food bowls seems a little extreme. Could you scatter feed as well as using the food bowls?
