Default Robo question

I have become fascinated by robo hamsters, but I keep hearing that they are not for beginners due to size and speed. So is it best to have experience in hamsters or experience in small animals in general?

Honestly as long as you understand what you're getting into with robos it's perfectly fine to have them as a "beginner".Stereotypically it may be frowned upon but ultimately it comes down to providing the best care for any individual animal.Having passion for an animal and not settling for what is more acceptable is best(as long as you're capable of providing the care for said animal),so if you feel better in some way about the robo species compared to other hamster species I'd say go for it!

If you like robos then I would just suggest you research them first so you know what your getting yourself into as Amity said. If you want a pet that you can play with then I'd highly not recommend a robo. That wouldn't be good for you or your pet. If mostly takes months to tame on average, although there may be exceptions. But if you want a pet you can play with for a beginner I'd recommend a Syrian.

As everyone else has said, as long as you're patient and do your research and are prepared to take things at your little robos pace you should be fine. They are such sweet little people, and so much fun to have around and though they can be tamed it really depends on theor individual personality! Being on here is a great first step as I've learnt so much myself from all the other robo parents! Good luck with making the right decision for you

I tend to think that the best species for beginners is the one you feel the most drawn to. Syrians are not always easy and Robos and Chinese are not always more challenging and each individual hamster will bring their own personality into the mix.

Robos generally are one of the liveliest species and that can mean that they're very entertaining to watch but it doesn't mean that they're untamable if you take things at a pace that suits them. Some of the people I've spoken to have had more success in taming them if you start them in smaller cages and upgrading gradually but take the lead from your hamster, they'll soon let you know if they need less or more space.
