Re: Welcome Link!
Yay! I managed to clear out the cage and set it up now, I don't have a lid which I'm a little worried about, but I'm sure he can't escape, right?
Anyway here's his nice new cage, it's a little colourful but I'm sure he loves the new space
Also a little extra of him running on his saucer.

Re: Welcome Link!
That looks nice & he looks really sweet on his saucer
As it is I'm sure he can't escape but he does really need more substrate (15-20cm) which is easy to do in a tank but will raise everything up so you would need to make a lid then.

Yeah I would of put more bedding in but I used the whole bag of care fresh and there's no bedding left
I am going to buy some fitch soon so I will really add some more for him. I would build a lid but I have to fix a few other cages as well so there's quite a lot I need to do. I'll see if I can just put a piece of mesh over the cage until I can build a lid.

Re: Welcome Link!
Nice setup! Mushu has that exact same rainbow bridge and he loves it. I think it's one of the only toys he actually uses, besides his wheel. Great to hear you are getting fitch. It's a brilliant substrate, and a very reasonable price. I bought some for Mushu to replace his carefresh, but in the end had to move him onto paper pellets instead because his long fur was getting so many tangles with all other substrates.

Yep every single one of my hamsters have had that bridge. Also yeah I had fitch before for my old Syrians and it was really good so I'm excited to get some more. Also I really want a long haired Syrian someday, hopefully I can find one up for adoption.

Re: Welcome Link!
Haha be careful what you wish for! Mushu was merely fluffy as a baby which I liked, because my first hamster had had hair about that long. But then it kept growing! At this point I am hoping it has stopped because it’s hard enough to keep tangle free as it is. I don’t know how people with majorly long haired hamsters cope!

But it's so cute, I seriously love the look of the fur, especially males. As someone who's only owned short haired I really want a long haired. But yeah it must be difficult with bedding and such, a lot of grooming.
Anyway update on Link, I went out shopping and managed to get some Velcro that I've put on the tank now and I got some children's play sand from Argos that I'm sanitising right now to give him a little sand bath.

Update on taming!
It's been going pretty slow, he's built up a lot of confidence in the 12 days I've had him so far. At first he would hide whenever he saw me but now he's happy running on his wheel when I'm right next to him. I'm planning on giving him some more treats, and hope he takes them. I also spot cleaned his cage today, he's obsessed with pooping on his wheel.

Re: Welcome Link!
OH MY GOD.
He just took a treat from my fingers!!!!! I'm so happy, he took 2 treats from my fingers. Granted I kinda dropped them when he took them because he didn't grab them in time but I'm so happy!!!! I was doubtful I'd ever tame him properly. WooooahhhH!!!! It feels so good, I hope soon he will get on my actual hand so I can pick him up. I'm so proud of him
