Default Meet Cress

Apparently I run a hamster orphanage now. I've just adopted my FOURTH hamster, because I just can't say no to a homeless pet if I have the space. Anyway, a student of mine (I teach college), asked if I would like a baby Robo as a present. She had an accidental litter because a local pet shop told her she had to have a pair of Robos or they would get lonely, and they ended up being a male and female. This must happen all the time, and it makes me so mad at irresponsible pet stores. I understand accidents happening, but sheesh.

ANYWAY. I have been wanting a Robo, and I couldn't resist. So this is Cress, named after a book character, not the plant. She is a cutie and I have my hands full.

Oh my goodness emojimom, you must have your hands full

Cress is adorable! I'm a sucker for agouti robos, I think they are so cute I have two agouti boys.

If I could I'd probably have 5+ hamsters, but I don't think my parents would be very happy with that XD

That would be an Ecotrition cheese chew right? Those sadly are not safe for any animals They contain propylene glycol(used in the making of antifreeze, just something no animal should ever get in treats)along with artificial colors(which are known to cause health problems),maltodextrin(not good for any animal or even humans),unspecified modified starch(definitely unhealthy, compared to for example potato starch),and gelatin(best avoided as it is boiled bones which is quite hard for any animal to digest).

There are much better completely safe chews available for example high quality natural dog biscuits(Wet Noses,Sojos,Buddy Biscuits, etc all should have safe options and are much healthier than these chews as well as much better than Milk Bones and such which really shouldn't be fed to any animal due to numerous unsafe ingredients like BHA/BHT/ethoxyquin which is known to cause cancer along with unspecified biproducts in any form including digest, animal or general "liver",meat and bone meals of any sort, etc)or Whimzees(not Greenies as Greenies are much lower quality and should be avoided).

You say that your new ham is named Cress, is it possibly the Cress in the Lunar Chronicles Series? If not, which book? (Just Curious ) And congrats on a new ham!

Yes, she is named after Cress from Lunar Chronicles! I listened to the entire series on audiobook during a long road trip last summer, and I thought Cress would be a good namesake for this timid but smart little hammy!

The photo I posted is from meeting her at her previous owner. She does not have an Ecotrition chew now.

She's very happy in a large bin cage and is quite active running all over the place. Probably the most active of any of my hamsters. She has rejected the Bevita box I offered her as a nest, and forcefully removed all of the tissue before settling on a different spot. She has quite the personality, and she is so tiny, just darling!

Two dwarfs (though different species) and two Syrians. I think my "hamily" is complete.

Ha ha, I know, it's a problem! But really, it's just that I've wanted more pets for years and years and I finally live in my own house by myself, with lots of space--no more tiny apartment with roommates!--so I'm seizing my moment!

I am done adding to the menagerie now, though. I have no more room!
