Default Mother and daugher robos?

Ok so I am half thinking of getting a pair of Robos if I can find some that need re-homing. The contact I had the other day seems to have disappeared. A rescue has quite a few hamsters to adopt including a mother and daughter robo pair.

So I'm thinking a bit. I hadn't heard of a Mother/daughter pair before - just sister pairs or brother pairs. Does anyone have experience of this? I was wondering if they might possibly be less active with being Mother daughter, or more reclusive or something? It gets quite mind boggling looking for rescue hamsters!

I've heard of father & son pairs but don't think I've come across mother & daughter, not that I remember anyway.
I don't really see why they would be any less active but depending on how old the daughter is now maybe fairly likely to fall out as the daughter matures.
Hopefully someone might have actual experience & be able to help more.

Yeah, I would want to know ages but that's usually not possible. At around one year or so the robo starts slowing down. It's from baby to one year mark that is the most fun. I'd say not to adopt the mother and daughter but to keep looking.

Sorry your other contact didn't work out. Probably for the best as you wouldn't know their genetics with all the brothers and sisters mating. But then unless you buy from a breeder who knows what genetics and health problems you hammy has.

Can you buy two from a breeder even if it takes awhile?

If you decide on the Mother daughter pair they won't be as much fun IMO
But totally up to you

Edit: I have Angel, who is an adopted rescue robo from 6 weeks old and she's now 4 mo old coming up on 5 I think but she has NEVER taken a treat from me. I sse a lot more of her as she hangs around the cage sometimes but if I were to put my hand in there she runs quickly away.

So she was abused as a baby is my theory because the white robos are absolutely adorable. I won't buy a robo from a rescue again. I'd have to be VERY careful which animals you adopt as rescues because I also adopted Izzy from the SPCA and she hides all the time. I've gotten used to it.

The only good rescue I have is Heaven, my Syrian. She had a cuddly sign on her cage so I adopted her.

Thank you Cypher and Cinnamon Bear. I guess there's also the issue of the older one probably dying first and how the younger one would cope (assuming they stayed together as a pair). I don't think there are any Robo breeders anywhere near me and felt the need to adopt

If you look at pet shops, they generally put animals that are not litter mates into the same cage. So that is not a good route to go. Is there a advertisement list on the internet in the UK? Like we have Craigslist in the US. Sometimes even the newspapers will advertise litters too.(I don't know if that's a good idea tho?) Are you going to get another beautiful Syrian? That would help take you mind off robos until you find a good pair.

Usually you find the best pets when you aren't looking but they just cross your way. Sometimes a search is needed

At least you have spare cages, wheels etc if a pair need splitting up.

With a mother & daughter rescue pair I wouldn't be surprised if the daughter was from an accidental litter & possibly not that much younger than the mother so age difference might not be an issue but you do have the implications of poor breeding to consider which may or may not be a problem, I think that's something you have to consider with most rescues though & what really matters is that you want to give an unwanted ham or two a home.

I agree it's great to rescue if you can first before buying. Maybe a bonded pair of robos that are younger might show up. It's just so fun to watch then grow up.

How do you feel about the mother and daughter pair? I find it so hard to wait once I have decided to go for something.

As you know Flower and Fairy fell out fairly soon after I got them. But I did put them into the maxi duna multy which is big for a pair of dwarf hamsters ...

Good luck with your exciting decision.

A bit confused at the moment Earlier I had seen photos of the two - separate photos. Later I had enquired about the other robos and the one I thought was the daughter is the Mother of another one So not sure if she is the Mother and has a few girls in with her. There is a Dad robo who is only 15 weeks old.
