Default Should I Be Concerned?

Hello all! I hope your day/night is finding you well.
I'll try my best to be brief!

Recently I purchased a hideout for my hedgehog online which turned out to be far too small for her so I decided to give it to Yolandi! After cleaning her cage today I replaced her old hideout with the new one, and she seems to be...well...very upset about it! She really is refusing to sleep in it, and I'm worried if the sudden change might be stressing her out too much.

For now I am leaving her be to (hopefully) get used to this new change. At least she's enjoying the little chew toy I got for her today. My little Yolandi has always been a little "brat" (and I say that with the most love), but...I know stress is terrible for hamsters, especially Robos!

Should I put her old house back in tomorrow -- or should I give her more time to adjust?

Thanks!

You could put the old house back now. Let your hamster explore the new house when having out of cage time. Possibly put some food in the house to encourage Yolandi to go in.

I don't think putting new things in straight after a clean is a good idea if you do full cleans, did you put some of her old nest material in the new hideout?
It might be an idea to put her old one back for now, give her time to settle after the clean then try again in a few days or so & keep her nest or substrate from the old hideout & put it in the new one.

You could always add the house to another area of the cage so it builds her scent and familiarity. Or as others have said, let her explore it during play time. Definitely give her the old house back, I find my hams never appreciate me controlling where they sleep!

Thank you so much for your help! I will put her old house back in straight away. I will definitely follow your advice; thank you again for being so helpful!

Aah I had no idea! Thank you for letting me know! I will avoid doing that in the future. I hadn't even thought of putting some of her old nesting material in there. I'm going to put her old house back in straight away. Thanks very much for the helpful response!

Ooh, that's a great idea. Definitely I will give her some time with it before I go about forcing a change on her -- that hadn't even come across my mind! I will put her old house back straight away. It never ceases to amaze me just how much personality these little ones have!

Thank you for the responses, you all! I'm very grateful!

EDIT: Just wanted to give a quick update and say that Yolandi seems thrilled to bits to have her old house back. I'm sure if she could she would thank all of you! But I'll do it for her instead lol. So thank you three once again!

Thank you so much, sincerely! As with everyone on this forum, I'm sure -- my fur-daughters are my life! I may be very new to Robo ownership, but I'm here to learn. It's great to see what a kind and knowledgeable community there is here! ;0;

Pleased to read that yolandi has her old house back, I still put some old substrate in with the new with Harvey's bed area. He always has a good sniff when I do.
Do introduce her to the new one so that she can sniff it out.

Yessss it's so good to see her being her wild self again, haha!

Aww, that's a great idea! Harvey's lucky to have a great human mom like you ;u; I think I'll start doing that with 'Landi's toilet paper bedding she makes. It always is a shame to throw her hard work away, so that's a great compromise! *0*

Over the past couple of nights I've been leaving it in her play/taming area. She's starting to go in it now, but I'm def gonna give her even more time to get used to it. Thank you so much for posting.
