New Robo
Hello,
I recently adopted a robo hamster (Amelia)and have been trying to enrich her environment. I bought her a Ferplast gym, but noticed that there is a small gap in between the main part and the wheel.
I know they can squeeze through small gaps, and wondered if this was a problem, or if anyone knew?
I might be being overcautious. I've attached a picture.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Re: New Robo
She could definitely squeeze through that space but is it on the top of her cage, high up? In other words could she make her way to that space. You'd be surprised what they can do.

Re: New Robo
It's high up, and smooth plastic walls. I can't see how she could climb up. Not sure what to do though!
Thanks for the reply.

Re: New Robo
If the wheel somehow got stuffed with enough substrate or anything similar to make it stop moving,an agile hamster could easily climb up it and given such a gap an escape could occur.
The best solution would be a wheel inside the cage if you don't already have one, which would be a lot safer and more appropriate than including one in a modular addition as this apparently is.

Re: New Robo
Thanks. Yeah it's a bit annoying that it's designed like that. She has two other wheels as well. I just feel bad taking the extra space from her when she's only just had it.

Re: New Robo
If you want extra space you could just get a bigger cage. That would be safer, and more natural!Of course,it depends on your hamster and what you already have if it really needs to be upgraded or not
