New Colour Roborovski?
Today I saw some quite unusual roborovskis. There colour was quite unlike anything I have seen and I wondered if it was perhaps a new mutation.
It was a Husky rob (infact there were three all the same). They had white faces, but the white exteneded a little further in the body. The cream undercoat came up a lot higher than normal, then there was a band of colour i can only describe a argente going right around the body. In the centre of the hamsters back a patch of 'normal'. Overall the hamsters were lightened in colour too.
I hope you can understand this description.
They were stunning to look at. They were in a cage with 7 normals. I dont know the history of the hamsters - I know where they came from but didnt get a chance to speak to the breeder, and I suspect if I had I would have just got shrugged shoulders if I had asked about them.
Has anyone else seen this colouration?
PS i am going to post this on a few forums so I am sorry if you read a repeat of the message

Husky Roborovski have been around for a while now - Pets International even have them meaning the Scottish Pets at Home stores sold a whole load this summer so they will be a lot more common in the spring I am sure...

I have 2, they are awful, small and weedy, and they came from a reputable breeder too I am really not impressed, the Normals tend to be larger and healthier.

How strange - I can't quite picture it - you didn't get a photo of it by any chance?

I did get a photo, but have since decided (with a little help on another forum) that they are just very light Huskys that I saw.
Here you go:
More here: http://photobucket.com/albums/v357/litt ... ster/robos
You can see that lovely 'argente' band above the bellyline. These were very sweet hamsters. Very tame for robs and a nice chunky size too - which is strange as the breeder although is good I wouldnt neccessarily say was reputable.
The problem I had was that my Husky wasnt light in anyway, she was just a normal rob with a white face. Thats why i thought these were different. I have since found out that many huskys are lighter.

Ahh, how cute! The husky looks a lovely colour. Personally I have never heard of it but then I have never owned any dwarfs either!

Yeah I can see what you mean with the argentey colour/light normal rob!
I've only ever seen one husky, although I know one of my girls carries the gene....not going down that road though, adorable as they are!!!
