Bottle problem
I got Swift this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lillypet-Hi...e+water+bottle
Been using it two weeks and it has leaked to the point of being empty or nearly empty 3 times now, each time was when it's been hot (last time was today), so I'm obviously concerned about this and would like to get her a new water bottle.
I have a 'normal size' water bottle made of glass but I'm not sure if it would be too big for her.
Have I just been unlucky and just buy another mouse size bottle, or what would you recommend?
Thanks.

Re: Bottle problem
Size isn't as important as making sure it functions. I've got two types, Lixit toggle valve ones, and the ball valve. The sizes usually range from 4 - 16 oz, but you should make a habit of checking it daily to make sure A there is water and B the valve works. Metal does expand when it gets hot, so if you are set on a bottle set up there may be some other options like the ones they do for lizards where a bowl fills as water is drank, but the concern with that would be chewing.

Re: Bottle problem
OK, thanks. I'll set up the glass bottle today.
I always check the bottle first thing in the morning, about lunch time and then in the evening so she is never without water too long, I've used the same style bottle for many many years and have never had them leak like this, just hope it won't happen with the glass one!

Re: Bottle problem
It's so annoying when bottles completely leak, I had similar problem when I had my Russian Dwarf Hamsters there substrate was soaked.
The glass bottle you have should be ok for her, or if you want to use the water bottle holder you have a you could see whether a classic water bottle would fit in the holder as I never had a problem with these bottle leaking.
I also noticed if you don't fill the bottle up completely they don't drip as much.

Thanks. I have 2 spare bottles, a glass one and an 'ordinary size' Classic. I'm struggling to set up the glass one and was thinking I'm going to have to buy the stand for it (which is ridiculously expensive), so before I do that I'll see if the other Classic fits the holder. (the holder has a mouse sized Classic in it at the moment)

Re: Bottle problem
Does your ham manage to drink ok with the bottle in that holder? I had one of those & thought it was too low to the ground even for a dwarf ham, they are really cheaply made to so the bottles may well leak.
Is the glass one the living world bottle? I found them quite hard to fix too but the metal clasp thing works really well with the classic mouse bottles, I've been using the classic mouse for years now, either attached to the bars or with a wooden stand & have no problem with them.

I haven't been able to see her drink yet so I'm not sure.
Yes, the glass one is the living world, I'll buy a classic mouse and use the metal clasp then, thank you

Re: Bottle problem
Seconding the classic bottles, I have the mouse and hamster versions in use for Syrians and Robos and I have never had an issue with them

Re: Bottle problem
I use the 4oz plastic bottles and fill them to the top, was told that provides the most suction when I went to return a glass bottle that wouldn't work at all. It's hard to find good water bottles these days. I think a smaller bottle is less of a hassle and stays fresher longer than a big bottle would.

Re: Bottle problem
I've ordered a Classic mouse 75ml bottle, it'll be here next week.
The current bottle didn't leak last night thankfully.
Cinnamon Bear - I'll remember that, didn't know about the suction thing, though I do normally fill them right up anyway.
