Re: Roborovski's and cage size
Most of my pairs and groups have been hybrids but I've had a fair bit of success with those long term (including a trio of females who were together for life and a pair of males who were really, really close and even passed away on the same day). I've heard of people trying roborovski groups and I'm sure I've heard of pairs doing well long term, I can't remember how the robo groups I've read about worked long term but I wouldn't see much harm in trying groups if you wanted to. With that said, there is always more potential for trouble in a group (more hams to take a dislike to each other) and it can be really, really difficult deciding how to separate a group if trouble does break out. If you try and keep pairs or groups then you will need to be careful, but I'm sure you already know that.

Re: Roborovski's and cage size
If you don't mind a bit of diy, some people make bin cages from these ikea samla bins, which are a similar size.

Obviously they'd need to be single sex groups or they'd keep breeding!
