Default Robos behave very differently

I picked up a pair of robos yesterday. They seem to get along well. I've never owned robos before and I'm still getting used to the idea of two in the same cage.

Their behavior is quite different than other hamsters. They don't seem to hold still long enough to be curious. I have a large bin cage for them with a terrace, 2 wheels, and lots of room, but all they seem to want to do is either run in the wheel, or run the same "trails" through the habitat. I am worried that this trail running is neurotic.

Another thing... even though the two wheels are identical, they keep elbowing each other to use one, and they ignore the other. This is driving me crazy. It doesn't look aggressive to me, it just looks like they both love that particular wheel for some reason that escapes me.

Is the trail running normal? They have a sand bath, salt block, and plenty of hiding spaces. I think they have a rich environment. I don't want them to be bored and stressed, and I can't tell if this is repetitive behavior due to boredom.

Take out the terrace.Levels and anything similar like shelves are unsuitable for pairs as they can cause more aggression. One more thing, salt blocks are not necessary for hamsters.

If you're really worried about them potentially hurting each other,a simple way to completely eliminate the possibility of either hamster getting attacked is to just separate them.It eliminates any stress, allows them their own space, takes stress away from you because you no longer have to worry about fights, and also means that they most likely will be much happier!

They might favour one wheel over the other as it is easier for them to use.

They're not being aggressive at all. I wonder if maybe they just need some time to settle in?

They might need more time to settle in.Give them time, and if nothing improves possibly consider separation.

If you only got them yesterday they will definitely still be settling in, finding their way around & marking territory to make the home their own, I would just leave them to sort themselves out for now, try not to interfere too much, just minimal spot cleans & the basic food & water routine.

I'm pleased to report that they have calmed way down
They're acting like normal hams now... including, unfortunately, aggression toward each other. They are permanently separated now. But I think they're both calmer for it.

Brunhilda is definitely the more submissive one. She will benefit more from the solitude. She still won't approach my hand. But I've had them for less than 2 weeks, so I anticipate more positive changes in her demeanor as she gets used to being the queen of her own castle.
