Default Keeping two girls together

Hi, I just took on two female robrowski hamsters. I have heard it is really difficult to keep two together without them fighting eventually. At the moment they are snuggled up and the best of friends, but I am really worried I will come down to a huge fight with injuries. What would you advise. I want to do the right thing by them both. I have a spare cage in case they need splitting.

Give them plenty of space. Have two bowls, bottles, wheels. Don't clean the cage too much/often.

I would set up the cage with 1 bottle, bowl, nest, toilet/sand bath at each end so if needed you could put a divider in quickly and easily if fighting occurs.

Watch for signs of bullying/fighting.

To go along with CMB regarding bullying & fighting, I think that squeaky wrestling is harmless but if it turns aggressive where blood is drawn or one is chasing the other around in the cage relentlessly then you would have to separate immediately. If your stressed about it you can always separate them anytime. They live great lives solo either way!

With the right set up as has been suggested & no levels or anything they may get territorial over they can live successfully together, it's never certain so you are right to have concerns about fighting but it usually begins with a bit of squabbling & signs of bullying before a major fight breaks out so just keep a close eye on them & see how it goes, always better safe than sorry though so if you do see signs they they aren't getting on so well or one is being particularly dominant then it maybe better to separate sooner rather than later.

If they are fine at the moment then yes just set the cage up for two and you'll only need to separate them if there's any sign of bullying or fighting.

As Cypher says, with a pair it's important not to have anything that can make them territorial like levels, and to have two of everything - houses, water bottles, food bowls and wheels. They might choose to sleep in one house together or share the odd thing, but the important thing is there are two of everything.

My two sister roborovskis have had to be separated due to one injuring the other and I have heard about territorial issues being caused by having levels on the cage. They have been separated for about 2 months, is there any way I can put them back together in a different cage, or is it too late??

I doubt they could live together now without fighting. They can live on their own and be happy. Especially the less dominant one.

I definitely wouldn't try putting two back together after that long, they would no longer know each other at all & be very likely to fight Molly.
Keep them separate & as CMB says they will live very happily alone.

Thanks, I guess I just wondered if it was possible.
