Baby Robo escape!!! Suggestions Please
I moved my pups in with their Dad who was in a mini duna. the water bottle was fed in through the side and it seems the suckers failed and the bottle fell away leaving the hole which a couple of pups have got out through!
It is enough of a proposition getting a standard sized Robo back but these are pint sized versions and super speedy and fragile so I am panicking.
What do you think I can do? I am not sure what room they are in as they are so small.

If you can't see them anywhere in the room they are probably hiding behind furniture of some sort. Maybe set up some cardboard boxes with entrance holes & food inside, hopefully they might smell the food and climb in? Good luck. X

P.S. if you suspect they are behind furniture please don't try to manoeuvre it, in case they get squished! X

Re: Baby Robo escape!!! Suggestions Please
I think another problem is that they can find snacks around the other cages as I have a lot of hamsters and seeds etc can get on the floor.
I would worry moving anything in case they got squished as they move so fast. Am even scared of stepping on them to be honest!
Is there anything anyone knows works to attract them by the scent? I am not sure what draws out really young Robos...they have not had the chance to learn what they like yet

Some bedding from their original nest. I'm sure they want to go home. Why did you put them in with the adult male?

No matter the age or size set up a bucket trap ASAP. Be sure to have plenty of soft bedding at the bottom to protect them from injury. Use mesh piece as the ramp instead of books as the tiny ones may not be able to climb up books to get to the goodies inside the trap. Make a small trail of millet seeds leading to the trap and a teeny tiny dab of Peanut butter on the top of the mesh ramp will encourage them to climb up.
Other thing is Pray. Good luck and keep us filled in on their safe recapture.

Re: Baby Robo escape!!! Suggestions Please
I put them with Dad in a new cage as I believe that is something that can be done when they are separated initially. The boys with Dad for a few weeks?
Anyway the nest is being shared by Dad and remaining boys and Mum has the rest in separate cage with her.
They are not hanging around the living room but are zooming everywhere. I see them but they are more or less a blur.
I will see if I can do something as a bucket trap but do not have mesh at the moment, nor really a bucket...but I will improvise. I think I have some peanut butter.

Re: Baby Robo escape!!! Suggestions Please
Do you have any hammy chocolate drops. Or banana is another thing our hamster can't resist. Right now, you could try just putting a few kitchen roll tubes down with treats in (while working out setting up the bucket trap!). They may go in the tube to get the treat then you can pick the tube up with your hands over each end. Maybe put the tubes near the edges of furniture near where you've seen them rather than out in the open, because they'll probably be wall hugging or staying near dark 'safe' places. Any kind of tube would do. I caught our Syrian like that. He couldn't resist going in the tube for a piece of cucumber.
I can't imagine a load of teeny baby robos zooming about, but it makes me imagine scooping them up with a fishing net! If you have one lol. We once caught my sister's gerbil with garden netting thrown all over the room.

Re: Baby Robo escape!!! Suggestions Please
It is only a couple and I have seen them streak across the living room and also into my bedroom to hide under the bed. They seem to find it a great adventure at the moment!
There were a couple that were intent on being adventurous from the day their eyes opened! I bet it is them...little...darlings!!
A fishing net may be an idea as their reactions are so quick and I am tall so not easy to bend down fast....
Okay, I will see what I can come up with...

Ok - kitchen roll tube poking under the bed with banana or cucumber at the far end If you put it sideways onto the side of the bed, you'll see one go in and can pop your hands over either end. One down a few to go after that maybe.
