Help!!!!
Hi,
I've had my hamsters since September 26th
Their Names are bubble and squeak and they were both 8 weeks old when I got them. Bubble is slightly larger than squeak. They live in th zoo zone 1 and I was planning on getting them the 2 for Christmas.
Tonight I got home late from a concert and I went to my room, turned on my lights and went to their cage. Their cage is normally in our spare room but my nana came to stay and my dad moved them upstairs to my room as my nana is allergic to fur ( and just doesn't like animals )
Anyway I came into my room, opened their cage and they ran away, so I stupidly lifted up their house to look for them, and then the smaller hamster squeak started chasing bubble so I ran downstairs got their carry case and put squeak into it. I put squeak in a makeshift bin cage.
What should I do? Bubble is fine and not harmed but I'm not sure whether to try putting them in the same cage together
They have lived together since they were born
Thank you
Xxx

Re: Help!!!!
Once they are apart, never put them back together again they won't recognise the scent of each other and they will start fighting. Leave them apart for the rest of their lives they will be happy by themselves. They are solitary animals, make sure you have enough room for squeak, even just get another zoozone for squeak or something else.

Re: Help!!!!
It could be that the change of room may have disturbed them a little & that might have been enough to escalate any dominance there already was into bullying & or fighting.
I agree now you've separated them it is best to keep them that way, things would probably just get a lot worse if you tried to reintroduce them.
They will both live very happily alone in their own cages so I'd just focus on getting a nice new set up sorted for Squeak now.

Re: Help!!!!
thank you for your feedback. luckily I was allowed to buy another cage which squeak is now living happily in! I am glad I separated them as they both seem a lot more relaxed by themselves

Re: Help!!!!
That's great that Squeak's in another cage, it's a shame you've had to separate them so soon but once they're seperated it's best to keep them that way. You'll notice over time that Squeak will gain so much more confidence.
I agree with Cypher that them being put in a different room could've disturbed them. They get use to certain noises and smells and atmospheres.

Once they are separated it is best to keep them separated... sorry you had to keep them apart after so long of them living peacefully but rememeber that is what's best for them!
