Oh thank you! I didn't even consider finding out how many litres the bin cage is! Sounds obvious now lol

:/ I doubt the Carefresh will last me 2 months... I can see now why people find it expensive.
Might go for aubiose since I can get 100 litres for 2 months which should be enough for at least 15cm.

Edit: or maybe I'll just get Carefresh, and that will give me an extra month to find an alternative.

Quick question regarding the mesh on a bin cage:

What sort of spacing is good? I've heard 1cmx1cm square gaps are good.

However, at B&Q the best one I've found has the spaces sized 1 inch x 1/2 inch. Is this too big?

If it is I'll have a look around elsewhere.

Edit:
I'm using an IKEA Samla box which is 43cm deep. The mesh is only going on the lid. I'll fill around a third with substrate. Let's just say there will be 25cm between the lid and substrate, so I'm assuming it won't be able to reach the lid anyway. (Unless it manages to climb on the wheel)

I got carefresh, natural colour, for my two roborovskis. It definately didnt expand as much as I was expecting. Mixed it with fitch (white) which feels softer. Looks quite pretty with both colours.

Yeah, the idea that it would expand that much seems a bit hopeful! I don't think it will be enough Carefresh for 2 months as I'd hoped. I was originally hoping to get Fitch since it seems really popular but haven't been able to find it. Do you prefer it to Carefresh? I'll try find my local equestrian supplier and see what they sell and mix the rest of the left over Carefresh with that for next time. I actually have 2 equestrian centres next to each other that are a 2min walk from my house! Maybe I can find out where they get their bedding from.

I like the fitch best but it is nice having both colours. The fitch is softer and cosier somehow.

I will prob. get only fitch from now on as I have some finacard for the base which is the same colour as the carefresh. (Very very small pieces of cardboard).

They are separate now (oops, I knew it was a risk when I had the two of them).

I get the fitch online.
