Red face Thinking of getting my robo a new friend?

Hi, i've had a robo for 6 months now. Would it be okay to get another one and try house them together. I want him to have company. I'm getting a new cage soon, so if they do begin to fight i can separate them. What would you guys do?

At 6 months the Roborovski will be most likely fully grown and settled. As he/she has been alone for such a long time their natural instinct will be that the new ham would be an intruder and they would be very likely to fight. It is very hard to introduce 2 roborovski's especially at this age x

I agree. It's not... impossible, but I wouldn't risk it. He's perfectly fine living by himself, he doesn't really need a buddy. If you do introduce, I'd recommend you talk to people on the forum about introducing new hamsters. You need to have neutral territory and lots of time and patience to make sure neither hamster is hurt.

I'm sure he loves your attention and is fine with you as his buddy. sometimes, and more often than I like to hear, paired groups turn sour.

I hope we get to see some pics of your little guy!

I've done it, once, with an 8 month old and a 6 month old, and it worked. They've never fought, I put them together in January.

They're Campbell's, and aren't those harder to get to live together? Now, I'm not advising it. But it's possible.

I did, however, know both my hamsters and that their personalities weren't both dominate, so that helped.

I also think you've made a good decision, but I wanted it give you all the input possible.

I`ve kept robos for a while now and I wouldn`t introduce a newcomer to an adult. It usually ends in tragedy and the last thing you want are injuries and vet bills. Robos are manic little creatures and the male I have at the moment is very cage territorial and will attack anything within reach! I can`t imagine what he would do to another strange robo!

We all imagine that it`s better for them to have a buddy, but unless they are brothers/sisters from the same litter, it shouldn`t be done. Even siblings fall foul of one another and it happens all too often for it to be worthwhile. You are doing the right thing by keeping your robo single and allowing him all the fuss and attention he wants. x
