Default Can 3 live together or should I get one?

Hello all. I contacted our local rspca who has robos, and she said they have a group of 3, or 2 singletons whose partners have died. What should I do? They are quite elderly but Id love to give them a home xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hiya,

if they have been together for a while, then they could be ok with no problems, but they could start fighting or squabbling once you rehome them, once they get a new cage, new toys etc. - it is going to be weird for them to have to re-establish territories and hierachy, etc. but, saying that, some Robos have to go through that many times when they get cleaned out, moved to different cages etc.

I would say that if you are prepared to have split them up if you need to, with two spare cages and spare accessories too then go for it - you can only try them and see how they get on - just keep a close eye on them and be prepared to split them if necessary.

If you dont think you have the resources, or space for more cages, then just get the one singleton, or even both singletons - if you have the space for two cages

It is completely up to you and depends on your circumstances

If you are prepared for the possibility that they might have to be split up, then go for it!

I had three campbells who I rescued when they were about a year old. They have lived together happily up until then. With me, they lived together for about 6 months until they started fighting a little, which resulted in them being split into a pair and a single ham. I'm so glad I adopted all three though, because they seemed to have a great relationship together. It was sad when I had to seperate the one, but it was because the ONE was bullying the other TWO, not that the two were bullying the one.

Of course, with any pair or more you need to be prepared to split them, but I would go for it personally.

I find that an odd number of robos tends to eventually result in fighting, especially in smaller groups, as robos do like to pair off. But, if these 3 have been together for a while, as long as you're prepared to separate and get an extra cage if necessary, I'd go for it!
