I believe if one is under 6 weeks old, it should go smoothly. There is never a guarantee they will always get along. You should never get a pair unless you are willing and able to cage them separately if they have a falling out/blood drawn.
I am new to the whole pairing up too. I plan on keeping one of the girls with the mom.

Yeah... Basically robo pairs can be great, or they can be nightmares - its the same as any other dwarf hamster species really lol
There are a lot of basic rules you can follow to increase the chances of a successful pairing though

Welcome to your little one, he's lovely . As long as he has space, a wheel, lots of little hidey holes, food to forage for and fresh water he should be a happy little chap. In term of taming, well he will let you go as far as he wants to, and that's as far as things will go. Some you can call to come out and they hop on over and jump on your hand being happy to come out for a cuddle and a snooze on you. Some are look but don't touch, much happier left to their own devices, and everything in between!

Food is your friend in taming, if you = little treats he'll soon decide you're at least worth approaching long enough to grab and scuttle off!
