Default 2 Robos together?

I heard that 2 Robos of the same sex could be kept together, is this true? If i were to get two, should I buy them both at the same time, and make sure they were from the same cage or litter? Just wanted to verify, thanks.

Same litter is the best, double-triple sex them to make sure you don't have a couple, 2 wheels (same model), 2 Flying Saucers (same model), no food bowl (scatter feed) and 2 water bottles( same model).

No levels, all houses need at least 2 exits, no corners (example :the actual corner of the cage needs to be free so one am cannot trap the other one in it. If you have houses, have 2 of them !!

Keep in mind that they can fall out and you'll need to have an emergency cage ready from day 1. A lot of people come face-to-face with the reality : their hammies do not get along after a little while.... Just so you know...

=D

It is true, robos can be kept in pairs. Definitely ensure they are the same sex as an accidental litter isn't something you want (trust me, it happened to me)!! If you can get them from the same litter then they will already be used to living together which is a good start

To try and keep a pair together successfully, as some pairs do fall out and need separating, I would advise the following...
Big cage, with plenty of space. No levels or platforms. No houses with only one entrance/exit as one may trap the other one in there. Biiiig sand bath with plenty of room for both of them to fit in. Scatter feed rather than using a food bowl so that one can't claim the bowl/food as their own. 2 identical wheels next to each other will also help so there is nothing to fight over. Personally I don't give them a house, I just give them a big pile of bedding for them to make an open nest wherever they want to.

Do bear in mind that you could follow any advice given on keeping a robo pair happy and living peacefully but some simply fall out anyway to the point of not being able to live together any more. Therefore having a spare cage is also advised should you need it, especially as things can escalate quickly sometimes.

Where are you thinking of getting a pair from?

Of course every pairing will be different, just like every ham is different. But I'm just going on the general advice that was given to me when I needed it and what also worked/is working for me with both my robo pairs and robo trio.

Often it can all be a bit of trial and error when keeping pairs as some will live peacefully together with a lot more than a single level basic 'pair' set up. Poms robos for example, have platforms, but also the dynamics are different due to the age of the robos being different. I'm sure she will pop up on this at some point.

My trio had a very basic set up while a pecking order was established which involved 3 identical wheels, a big sandbath, open nest and scattered food. After a while I started adding a few more toys, to test how they would cope with it etc. Now, about 6 months later, they have a platform and are still living peacefully, but this could also have easily caused problems. Working out what is right for your specific pairs is a lot of trial and error but the basic 'pair' set up is a good place to start I would say

I love this thread!!! I am planning to get some dwarfs very soon. I have the cages already. I just can't decide whether I want a pair or a trio. They will be rescues of course

2 water bottles just in case!

make sure you get a pair of robos before 6 weeks as this is the best age to introduce them as a pair.

If you get them from the same place and same litter they won't need introducing. My pairs and trios have only ever have one water bottle or one water bowl and its never caused any issues between them
