*pops up*

As has been said you can indeed keep robos in pairs and groups very successfully, what is most important to remember is to only keep as many as you have the space, means, and time to keep separately though, as there are never any guarantees they will stay together and live peacefully.

Most pet shop robos will be seven to eight weeks old when you bring them home, the same with breeder robos. I let mine go at eight weeks to their new homes, but I will have been monitoring them as a pair in the cage they will be going in for two weeks beforehand, not something that happens with a pet store.

The problem that most often arises is that people bring their new little fluffs home right at the time they charge head on into puberty as the hormones really start flying about at eight weeks, and often don't completely settle till over six months. There is of course no warning from shops about this, so time and time again people find themselves with little robos at war and have no idea what to do.

Cage set up has been discussed so I won't recap, I wouldn't advise following any of my set ups for an adolescent new pair, as Nikki says I use a different dynamic due to having babies to put in with older relatives, if you have a single robo though platforms and levels are great.

I have had many beautiful happy boy pairings over the years, as well as a group of eight boys all together, but I will say that girls really are on the whole easier. They aren't as worried about being dominant, there is no testosterone flying about, and if they do fall out, they are so much easier to put back together again peacefully.

So decide whether a pairing is for you, if not, consider adopting one of the many little ones out there that are already alone, and you can make then the most amazing set up without worrying about arguments

I would say though that if you are offered a pair of robos that are under six weeks old do not take then as they should not be going out to new homes at this age.

my two have two of everything apart from a pouch (which they both like to wee in!), and a rope ladder which helps them get to the chewy thing they have and an underground den i made them out of an old box and a tube. They love it and stay in there together. BUT i check on them every morning to make sure they are OK and that they havent had any fallings out. ive been so lucky with my two females so far but im constantly worried they might fall out. i do have a back up home ready in case though.

I had two male robo's in the same cage and we're pretty sure that they had a fight and that's what killed one of them :/
The more laid back, skittish hamster (Luka) seemed to take control of the cage and the more confident one (Nikica) seemed to get picked on by him.
They never really seemed to fight, but Luka would always climb in the food bowl first and he ended up getting quite chubby whereas Nikica was fairly slim.
Then one night we came back after being out all day and Nikica was lying in the cage dead with what appeared to be a broken leg :/ We're pretty sure they must have had some sort of fight while we were out and that's what caused it :/
I'd never keep two hamsters in the same cage again after my experience but I've heard many stories where two male hamsters have lived together and been perfectly happy xo

With groups of hamsters(2, 3, 4...) we should never use a food bowl... That can cause them to fight over it. I scatter feed in all my groups of Robos. I have 6 groups (pairs or trios) and no fight since I have taken out ALL food bowls. I'm very sorry you had to go throught that... =(

Looking back I should have probably done that too They seemed to have proper fights or anything though so I was never too concerned. And Nikica didn't look dangerously thin and Luka didn't look particularly overweight so I just thought things would be okay :/ xo
