Default Some help??

Hello

I have had two Roborovskis and one Syrian, Kumi, for a while now. This is a matter about my Robos, both of which are female.

One (Ichi) is significantly bigger than the other. Nana (the smallest) has seemed to develop a strange 'dry' area around her bottom. At first I thought she was losing hair, but on a closer inspection it is very scabby and dry, I don't know if her hair is matting? Also I'm not sure if Ichi is bullying her, because she is so much bigger. Nana doesn't seem any different though, she is eating and drinking fine and si still as playful.

I bought them from the same litter so didn't think they would fight, if they are fighting that is.

If anyone can shed some light on this, that would be helpful. Obviously, I think a trip to the vets is in order.

Thanks

x

Strange, I wonder what it could be? Dwarfs aren’t prone to wet tail, but they can get Diarrhea if they are fed to much veggies, is it possible that maybe one had a bit of Diarrhea and maybe had some of it cake around her bum?

Also the scent gland is in the middle of their bellies if I am correct, and I would think if there was a problem there you would have also noticed something around the gland.

Iv heard that roborovskis often do chase and bite at each other rears when there is fighting going on. I had two roborovski and I knew they were tussling because one kept having a cut show up on his little nose. Eventually I checked on them and found one had died, but it was the one I assumed was picking on the other that had the cut on his nose. I checked the dead one for any signs of fighting and couldn’t see anything; so I wonder if these fighting wounds can sometimes be small enough that we cant see?

Do they sleep together or are you finding they sleep in different places? This could be a sign something is wrong between the two of them.

Robos don’t have long fur really, I can’t see why matting would be a problem? I guess the best way to solve it is to take it to a vet or maybe separate them and see if it goes away and maybe it was a scab?

wish I could be of more help, Im not as experiances with dwarfs

Hello Leah and furry friends

Do they have a sand bath? I would definitely see the vet but strange only one has these symptoms.

Do they interact much? Wheel together etc?

Thankyou both for your comments

Unfortunately, she died today. I found her in a corner, in a bloody mess. I can only assume Ichi, the larger robo, attacked her to the point where she couldn't take it.

I feel so bad that I just didn't spot this sooner. Some days they would seem fine together and would sleep in the same house. I guess the area around her bottom must have been scabs.

I read that males tend to be smaller. Do you think, if it were at all possible, the Nane was trying to mate and Ichi just wasn't having it? sounds silly I know!

Thanks again.

I feel so terrble!!

I’m sorry to hear this Leah, its to bad you couldn’t have read the responses to our posts sooner so you could have separated or split caged them

My robos as I mentioned were showing the same behavior of not always sleeping in the same area. Although I never found any of mine beaten and bloody one did still pass away and I am unsure why, but I think fighting may have been a factor.

At the time of having both my robos, the one I felt was being picked on was larger, he’s the one the ended up living and the smaller one passed away, and I have found that the larger one IS a male, I can now easily tell just by the shape of his behind, but at the time of having them both I was unsure.

I hope you can find another friend for your little one and see how he gets on with a new friend. If not you could always allow them to love in the came cage so long as its split, so they can have the company of another ham, but not interact physically.

Please dont be afriad to post more questions if you decide to get another
