Question Tips on taming a robo

I got my first robo hamster about 3 - 4 weeks ago now and would like to get him used to be handled so i can give him health checks. He is so tiny and fast i cant get my hand anywhere near him without him darting around the cage he also refuses to come out of hiding until the lights are off and we have gone to bed which is like at 1am so i never really see him. He jumps at every noise. I cant use the bath technique as we have a shower. So far i have just waited for him to go into one of his tubes then i pick it up and slide him on to my hand and let him sit there but he gets in such i panic so i quickly put him back down i have managed to get him to take treats from my hand a couple of times he will come up snatch it off me quick and then make a mad dash for it.
So does anyone have any tips that will help me with my skittish little hammy?

Have you got a playpen? Aka cardboard. Something that you can fit in with him, so that eventually he'll climb onto you if he's bored enough without his toys

There's a very good taming guide on somebody's website but i've already forgotten who's..

But even if he is scared/nervous about being picked up, do it for 10 seconds one day, 20 the next, 30, 60 etc.. If it feels like he's about to jump just put your other hand infront of the first (fab explaining) to kind of make a path for him to run along.. with your hands.. That way really helped with pip and within, 3 months? She was happy to be held.

I don't have anything big enough that will fit me in it i have been trying to encourage him to stay on my hand a bit longer but always keep my hand close to the bottom of the cage so he can jump off when he likes.

I bribe all mine with food, I take the lids off and sit next to the cages with something they love such as pumpkin seeds on my hand and just wait for them to come and get them. When they're used to getting food from my hand I pick them up for a little, just 30 seconds, then I put them back in exactly the same spot, and give them a treat. I extend the time as they become more relaxed, then start having them out of the sofa with me. I'm currently going through it with my little rescue, it's a new experience taming adults as I'm usually working with them from babies making it much easier.

Is this the little one that's coming for a holiday with me?

I've given up actively taming Darla. I've been hand feeding him, but that's about it, after the last couple of times I've had him in a playpen and it's turned into "let's try and catch the Robo" when I want to go to bed He'll have a bigger cage soon, so he'll have all the space he could wish for without me having to stress him out trying to grab him.

That said, he does seem to be getting braver with my hand in the cage again, and he's pretty nonplussed about my voice. He's scared if I move, though...
