Aww, she's super cute - that itty face!
Did you put cardboard around the wheel? That will definitely help reduce the risk. I'm not sure if putting it inside might also help more.

Re: My new hammy..her name is Cleo.
As far as the wheel goes - Good luck putting the card-paper in it, that'll really help
And I wouldn't worry too much if you've got a short wait for a new wheel, just make sure you try and get one eventually.
Have you tried looking online? Maybe you can find them at a better price, we're ordering them now (after losing our patience with the dwarves current wheels) and I'm getting them for nearly half the recomended retail price.
Or you could look into a different type of wheel. Ours are actually ok with normal savic wheels which are less costly (Skip had one with his previous owner), and I usually see flying saucers being suggested as good choices which again do cost less than silent spinners.
I've personally found the flying saucers to be problematic (its those we're currently replacing) but most seem to love them.

Ok, although you might want to read up on other opinions of them first. I saw them suggested a lot, personally found I don't like them but know that plenty of others find them quite fun for dwarves. I know some of our boys even prefer them to normal wheels
Just don't oil it... Please. We think oiling them when they got squeaky caused the worst of the problems we've had.
I wasn't saying to rush out and get one, just thought I'd offer a few other suggestions to try and help, especially since I know how much silent spinners can cost.
I'd just see what others have said about hamster wheels. I tend to read up on as many opinions as I can get before making the call - No point rushing in and ending up needing to start saving for another wheel a week later lol
That said - If you like the flying saucer then go for it, Skip loves his and Whizz enjoys his, just not as much as Skip seems to lol

Re: My new hammy..her name is Cleo.
My girls really like their saucers (they have the mini one each and a regular wheel in addition).
Silent Spinners are more expensive but they really are very silent. You could check Craigslist and on-line, but because of shipping charges, you won't find them for much less. But the silent part of them is quite nice. 4.5" size might be too small if your hams are on the larger side. 6.5" would be overall more suitable, although it could be difficult to stop (SS wheels have very little friction, so once they get going, they can spin for a long time). Many people have not seen any issues with it though.
Otherwise, Comfort Wheels (5.5" size) are much cheaper and do come in various colors. Most on-line places won't let you pick a color though, so you could check in stores for what they have in stock.
A third good option is a small (5.75" size) Rolly Wheel here:
Rolly Hamster Wheel by Lixit [LX 00138] - $3.49 : Critter-Cages.com
Rolly Wheel stand (sold separately):
Rolly Stand by Lixit [LX 00139] - $2.49 : Critter-Cages.com
Their shipping is not too cheap, but if you're getting more than one thing, it's not bad. They also sell Flying Saucer wheels on this site so you could combine. Flying Saucers by Ware Mfg. [WA 03281 - 03283] - $4.69 : Critter-Cages.com
Both Rolly Wheel and Comfort Wheels will benefit from regular oiling with vegetable oil or else a bit of vaseline on their axels after you wash your wheels (if you take them apart).
