Default Dreaming of Roborovskis

*bonkers alert*

So, Miss Pompompoms breeding threads got me all starry eyed and day-dreamy about Robos again. I am considering them in the future, but so I can get an angle on how much it will cost me to set up home for some (should it ever get that far!) I wondered what sort of size home would be appropriate for a pair? I'd love to have them on my desk. A clear tank, that is not too deep (maybe around a foot?), but quite long. Probably not a bin cage, as I'd never find something in the shape I am thinking!

It's just crazy lady late night rambling, but I've spent hours looking at plastic aquariums, and they all stop at about 40cm in length, which I think will be too small. It would have to be clear so I can sit and watch them while I study / instead of studying .

Does anyone know of anything suitable? I don't want to go down the route of custom glass tanks, as I think a glass tank would be too hard for me to clean, I'm pretty feeble.

What do you reckon? What do you house your robos in?

Thanks guys x

Maybe one of those old-style transparent bottom bin cages? Duna multy or something like that? Mine love their ZooZone1. I'd recommend 2 5.5" wheels and a small or medium flying saucer, as wheels are their most favorite things. Logs with lots of holes and similar toys are also great, as well as toilet paper rolls. You don't really need to buy them a house--mine seem to love the idea of an open nest and sleeping wherever they feel like every day.

Mine love their zoozone, but of course the bottom isn't see through. You could see them easily on your dest though. Mine was £30 ish pounds new so not too bad.

You can see my set up, they have a shelf from a mini duna (when The Cloud's home needed to be modified for his retirement) in there for an extra level, the shelf isn't as wide as the ZZ, so there is a long wooden bridge propping it up.

One wheel, one spinner, two sandpits open nest (under the shelf) little tent, climbing/gnawing frame, log (under the shelf) scattered food and a water bowl.

The tent was actually moved downstairs after Whizzbit came knocking on my door in the middle of the night having used Dasher sat in the tent to climb on and get out the top!!!! They have their water up the top now, and no way of escape!!

I think probably in total it would have been £50 ish for everything.

That does look fantastic. I do love my plastic tank cages I do really like the Perfectos though as they looks so tidy and neat. I think nearer the time I might contact Custom Aquaria, and if that doesn't work out, go with a ZZ . I'm happy to be patient though, to wait for the right pair to come along and some money and some space in my room. Perhaps time to part with some textbooks and whatnot Oh and all those bills I file on my desk, they can ruddy go!

Thanks Poms. They do have a wonderful home! I think I'd only need the cage, a couple of wheels and a handful of toys to get going, so yeah, about £50 sounds right, if I can't get a custom tank.

SQUEE! Mini hams! <3
