Reintroducing?

Hi
I was wondering if roborovskis can become "adapted" to life alone? To the stage where they can never live with others again?

There are two up for adoption in the local pet shop, who have been there for about a month.
The catch is that they currently live alone, despite everything we can find indicating that they used to live together. They're the same age (5-6 months), have been there for the same length of time e.t.c and are even the same sex. We asked about them today and were told that due to being apart for a month they'll never be able to live with company again. I was wondering if anyone could confirm/deny this?

If we did get them we would keep them in separate cages (one comes with a cage large enough for it, and we have a spare cage for the other) but I'd want to consider attempting to reintroduce them in the future, so would like to know if their time alone would definetly force them to be single for the rest of their lives.
(If we did attempt a reintroduction it would be done very slowly and the robo's would be checked daily as well as permanently living where we sleep, as I'm a relatively light sleeper any noise due to fights would be likely to wake me and we'd have a higher chance of re-separating before anyone got badly injured.)

Split Cage method is one way I have heard,it can be done.And as far ad I know that is the safest and only way.Also I read somewhere that hamsters never forget siblings.So that's also a indication that it can be done.I would try te split cage method.Just ask if you need a guide of how to do it.

I've read a lot into doing it and am confident that I understand how to.
I just wanted to check that they wouldn't have spent so much time alone they couldn't have a chance of being reintroduced. Its good to know there should be a chance at reintroducing them

We'll spend the next few days working out if we've definetly got the time and space for them as well as other pets, but if we do then will possibly give this pair a home. We'll only get them if we're prepared for them living alone permanently anyway, but want to try a reintroduction if we get them. Leaving them alone forever seems a bit mean when most of the species prefer company.

Jam had lived alone for a year and a half when I had to put Dasher in with him in an emergancy as he was injured. Jam took to him straight away and looked after him while he healed. Of course Dasher was still only about 9 weeks then which would have helped.

Can i ask where you have seen them , I have also seen 2 Robos at a pet shop that seem to exactly match yr description.

Sorry, completely forgot to reply to this thread and have had limited internet for a while.
We saw them in west Wales, but had rehomed them by the end of that evening anyway :P

They're not in together yet but we've been making sure they settle with us before starting the split cage method. Plan to start that soon though, we've introduced them during a playtime and that went ok, so will be hoping to get them both company soon, but even if they don't end up ok to live together they seem ok alone, and we're fine with the two cages

I've tried to re-introduce my two girls who had a falling out after 5 months together, but it did not work out. In some cases, some might decide they want to live alone.

We know they might be happier alone, but want to try and give them a chance to be together before deciding to keep them separately. If they don't get along we've got no problems with keeping them in separate cages, just want whatever they'd be happiest with and we can't know what they'd like without trying them with both options.

We also know theres a risk of fighting so will be keeping a very close eye on them once they've been introduced. Then we'll keep a close eye on them until either they need separating or they've lived out their lives together.
And we've always got spare cages ready for any animal(s) who need them.
