What happened??
Ok so After loads and loads of research and waiting, I finally got this beautiful russian dwarf hammy and I left her in her tank for 2 days. I started the taming on the 3rd day and it was amazing! She was soooooo trusting and friendly! On the 5th day of taming she fell off my hand! I was so scared something happened, she seemed fine though.i left her for the night. The next morning when she was at her water, I quickly got some romaine lettuce and placed it on my palm. She would normally crawl onto my hand and eat it but she didn’t! Instead she ran into her little hut and stayed there. Did I do something wrong? Did she lose my trust? Please tell me some info pleasee!!

Re: What happened??
I would imagine the scare of the fall has set things back a bit, keep an eye on her just to make sure she hasn't been hurt as they will run away & hide if they're in pain, if she's ok then just give her a little more time to settle before trying to interact with her again.

Re: What happened??
I'd still put my hand in her cage and take it from there. Campbell's are very inquisitive and she'll be back to climbing on your hand in no time at all. If she still runs away just make a tunnel with your hand, I've yet to find a dwarf hamster that can't resist it
Good luck

Kimlck what about a Syrian?
Also Rabbit I'm sure she's fine hamsters are stronger and more forgiving than they look. Good luck with your Russian Dwarf hamster

Re: What happened??
I've not tried it with Syrian hamsters.
When I used to be sales manager for the Midland and Southern hamster clubs and going on the displays with both clubs there was a way to tame and handle the Syrians, we'd get them out and just put them on our chests and stroke them, the only problem with that was I always had wood shavings on my top, usually hamster wee or if it was female there'd be the "perfume" or I'd totally fell for the ham and I'd have to take it home

Re: What happened??
Trust me I really wanted to get all the hamsters they had in stock and become the Crazy Hamster Lady, because that's who I am now. (Yeah, I may be spoiled rotten but I don't get no hamster army.)
Edit: I'm going a bit off topic. Continue the re-taming... Just be nice with her and you'll be fine!
