He's absolutely adorable. I love his colouring. Is he a Chinese ham? I don't know anything about chineses and dwarves, so sorry if this is a stupid question

EDIT: Aaaaaaaah, it was posted in the Campbells section, sorry

Default Mr. Theodore Campbell

Theo is really thriving, being a little brat teenager
He is so sweet, naughty and funny.

Here i just went past his cage, and of cause he heard me xD

Here's anothere just chilling

He knows his name and will come when called. And he is so fast, we are joking that he has ADHD as he always seems to get so many ideas, like impulses, and he is kind of hyper active and really fast, it's quite sweet and funny. He hasn't gotten used to my hands yet, he will still bite them so this need a bit more practice. There is one thing that worries me though and would like to hear your opinion.

He climbs the bars of the cage... a lot.... Because just maybe he can get your attension or he will get a treat, which is really sweet. But the problem is as he is so fast, always moving fast, he will loose his grib (most often his back paws) and fall down. Although this can look really funny, I am concerned that one day he will get his legs caught in the bars, and break them. So I have been wondering if I should cover the bars with some plexi glass so he can't climb them.
Do any of you agree or have any experience with climbing hamster?
(Maybe I should say that he is not chewing the bars)

He is just so cute in his grass nest there chilling out bless him, what a gorgeous boy! It's lovely to see more of him.
Really good to hear he's thriving, doing well & enjoying all the attention he can get

I would be worried about the bar climbing though, it can be a real problem as they don't generally have a clue about getting down when they've climbed up as well as losing their grip & tend to just let go & fall so he could hurt himself.
I like to put small ledges or shelves, things like lava ledges or the small birch & hazel shelves you can see here (scroll down a bit) kind of like overlapping steps so there's no big expanse of bars to climb & they can climb on the shelves or ledges safely as long as it's nothing too smooth so their little feet get some grip.
I find it's easiest to get them used to hands out of the cage in a playpen where you can interact with them but safely put them down or move your hands away gently for a moment if they bite, usually it just takes a bit of time & persistence, if you don't react to any biting (not always easy I know!) they tend to get out of the habit.

Theodor is lovely. Hopefully he will soon get used to your hands. They are really energetic when young, but usually calm down. My new dwarves are young and full of energy, but my older dwarf hamster is settled. I have had her about 3 months.

Ty both ^^

Cypher >> This is exactly it, he just let go and will tumble down, my thought is that he can so easily get his legs caught. I was thinking about small legdes and shelves but with the amount and entusiasme of his climbing, I am thinking i need at least 50 small shelves to cover all the sides, as he will climb everywhere. That's why I was thinking about plexi glass instead.
About the not biting my hands, I agree. I do think however that I need to get some gloves as he really have a mind of his own and WILL bite me.If I have a treat he will take it and then bite me, if I don't have a treat he will just bite me xD a real brat he is hehehe But because of the nervedamage I have this really... like really hurts, and I do move my hands, as I can't control the reaction from the nerves (in the hand) so I am thinking that he can sense that I'm nervous if he will bite, but of course not understand why he pick this felling of nervousness up. So I was thinking that gloves would help me. I am also thinking that a hamster here has to trust me just a little more than usual, as my hands twitch without me being able to control it. But we have managed before, so I am confident we can do so again ^^

CMB >> Yes I quite agree, I just think this little guy is a bit faster than usual, he reminds me of a robo xD with the speed that they move in. Now we haven't had that many hamsters yet, so I could be wrong for sure, but if he was a racehorse I would put my money on him xD

How about putting some bigger shelves in then Chiela, you could make more use of the space that way, if you have a look at April's review here you can see how she did it, you could use more than one depending on how big they are at different levels & maybe use some smaller ledges in other areas.
I've never tried putting plexiglass over bars but it should work, I have just used cardboard & cable ties to cover smaller areas where I really don't want them to climb.

This is exactly what i wanted to do, but i can't buy them from my country as no one will send them here

But I could try and search the web again to see if I can find something like it.
Just annoying that the best solution ain't possible, can't see the problem in sending them to Denmark... well.... ty Cypher <3
