Re: My Valentines present!
A potty may work with using the substrate she does pee on rather than using the potty litter. I had a previous hamster not want to pee on all types of potty litter, but would pee on the substrate she had in the rest of her cage in a jam jar.

Re: My Valentines present!
Kashi rather unattractively pees on her food stashes. Well she did when she first came to me. This last time I found some pee in her large wooden house and some in her rabbit corner litter tray (with chinchilla sand in it).
It may take time. Kashi is only just using her tray after many months of living with me.

Re: My Valentines present!
I have some glass jars, I could try that, it would be a good hidey hut if she doesn't use it for a wee wee I'll try just bedding and see if she'll use that in a little glass jar.
FF, your right it may take time, when she saw that I stopped trying to get her to pee where I wanted her to, she then wee wee in the kaytee critter sand bath That would work great too.

Only the regular has poultry fat,and also has banana chips.A lot of people(including you)are very against feeding fruit to diabetic hamsters and diabetes prone hamsters,so I'm not quite sure how the regular hamster harvest would meet that approval. It is a personal choice either way,but still best avoided in the daily diet.

Re: My Valentines present!
She loves running around with a Whimzee toothbrush in her mouth, she likes her wooden hidey house, hoarding stuff in there. She isn't aggressive & she's never tried to bite me. She drinks with her eyes closed for about 5 min straight often.
I haven't taken her out of her cage for taming. She seems smart for a hamster with this potty training attempts. She did wee in the glass jar that CMB suggested but with sand in it, instead of bedding.
Her ears are usually back & I don't believe she can hear.
She's chubby & loves to eat. She seems to love her new home. I really like her, just try to help her have the best life with her health issues.
Put her in a bim for taming. Put a sunflower seed too which she wasn't eating, she was scared. She did crawl on my hand and let me hold her.
I carried her back to her cage. Think I could get her really tame this way. Tonight I just had my arm/ hand in the bin. Will try again soon. She didn't try to bite
I weighed her at 47 gm & she still has a month to grow, approximately

Re: My Valentines present!
I made a play pen for her tonight. She wasn't as nervous as last night. She sits in my hand and I put her back in her cage.
She does NOT like me spot cleaning her pee spots. A handful of wet bedding a day. I'm using Carefresh, if she would only pee in the sand dish instead of next to it.
She was getting a little bitey after I took all the wet bedding out. She started a new spot right after I removed the wet bedding.
So I took her out of the cage & she didn't bite, maybe a little nibble but I distracted her from her pee spot problem. It's terrible for me to watch her drench the bedding & she likes doing it as it seems. Maybe I'll clean when she's fast asleep in evening hours before she wakes up for the night.
I got up at 3:00am to see what was going on in the hamster room, & Ivy is real active at night, fun to watch. She doesn't look like she's suffering like she does in the day.
I ordered 3 bags of Burgess, I'll feed it to my Chinese sisters too.

Re: My Valentines present!
Hi! Just wondered if there are any updates on Ivy Rose, since she no longer appears in your signature? Hope she's ok.
