Oh Cinnamon, you're very hard on yourself and you shouldn't be. I think you've had a bit of bad luck with the diabetes but we know how much you love and adore your hams.

I feel bad for saying that I'd never get another Russian as they are my favorites, especially Koala, it's sickening to see them suffering.

Koala isn't hardly afraid of the wash cloth now & he's taking meds by licking the syringe, so he's cooperating.

Have to go 2 weeks on the ivomec found out today, I'm 1/2 way done now. Almost done with anti-biotic in 3 days. Then he'll only need to be picked up in the mornings, once a day. ( He currently gets his anti-biotics 2x's per day)

Also, decided to clean his cage every other day to reduce stress for Koala

Don't feel bad. It's stressful just dealing with hamsters in general, but even worse when you start having to deal with all the complications that come with diabetes prone species, not even considering having to deal with other things like parasites

Vet wants $50 to do a blood test on Koala to diagnose diabetes, she thinks that is the cause of the mite problem & wants to talk about his diet.

Update: I didn't take him in to get tested for diabetes. Didn't want to further stress him. But he peed again on the wheel this morning so I tested it again & it was also high glucose

But the vet refilled both meds for me with no charge. She gave me enough for another 10 days treatment. Said to use it till its gone. That's good for Koala in case he needs it?

He really is so fluffy! You've got a great vet, very good of her giving you some meds with no charge.

True, he has enough meds for awhile but I hope to go only the 2 more weeks...

If he's still scratching I'll call the vet & maybe finish the bottle. Don't want him taking this too long...

Thinking 4 weeks is enough?

I want to go to health food store & get fenugreek seeds for both boys. I plan to buy flax seed.

Do be careful with fenugreek seeds CB, they can be helpful if a ham is hypoglycaemic but not otherwise & can actually be harmful if given when not needed, if you don't test them regularly you won't know if they're hypo/hyperglycaemic or normal.
