Smile Introducing a new Russian dwarf to my old Russian dwarf

Hi everyone !
This is my first post on here , I'm just wondering really, I already own a female Russian dwarf hamster called marnie , she is about 15 weeks old and has lived with me for about a month. She's very calm and tame . Today I bought a male Russian dwarf hamster called eddy , he's 9 weeks old. I do NOT want to breed them because I know this is unfair and also as he is the younger of the 2 it can be dangerous. I just want to know whether it's safe to leave their separate cages in close proximity of the others or will this be cruel or drive them a little crazy ? Also when I let them in their exercise balls should this be in seperate rooms etc. basically I wanted to know if it's okay that they know each other is around or not.
Thankyou guys!
X

My hamster cages are stacked and all of the hamsters are in the same room. so they probably know they are there. None of them ever seem bothered unless it's a new female on heat.

Regarding the exercise balls...I'd be careful. Tape the ends up as they can break easily and you wouldn't want two hamsters to get out and 'play' with each other.

As long as they don't have any play times together, it's fine. They will probably ignore the fact there is another hamster in their room.
