Little update on Twilight!
Not sure if people remember or not, but a month or two back, I posted that I was having trouble taming up Twilight, as she bit constantly, and flew at you if you put your hand anywhere near her, in short she was virtually un-handleable. However, I have spent literally hours with her over the past weeks, and the difference in her is amazing, she's like a different hamster. She no longer lunges at me, jumps or freaks if I put my hand near her, and I honestly can't remember the last time I was bitten. I can't get over how much she's altered, I couldn't get near her before to get to know her properly, but since she's stopped biting first and asking later, and overcome her fear/hatred of hands, her personality and character has developed as clear as a picture. Instead of shying away she now actively waits out for me, in fact she's out before all the others waiting for her cuddles, and far from biting now, she licks my hand instead, comes straight out and runs up my sleeve! She's changed so so much it's astounding. Obviously she's not altered overnight, I've spent ages with her nearly every day to progress slowly, and I've still a bit to go with her. I think I could now but I haven't yet tried to actually pick her straight up as I don't want to break the trust I've built up in her. I don't know if she'll ever allow me to lift her up like that, but as she runs straight onto my hand now it won't matter if she doesn't, the progress she has made is already beyond what I ever imagined she'd get to.

I'm so pleased to hear she is showing her true colours now and is enjoying life to the full. Well done for all the hard work taming her. It was well worthwhile

Re: Little update on Twilight!
That really is phenomenal, well done Perhaps you could give us a diary outline / overview of what you did with her, to help those of us still in the taming process?

Re: Little update on Twilight!
Great news. Sometimes animals just need that little bit more time, understanding and reasoning. Spending quality time with them really does pay dividends. x

Re: Little update on Twilight!
Your hammy looks a lot like my smokey. He would also bite me every chance he got. You are lucky, or talented, it took me 3 or 4 months to tame him. A little trick I used which may sound strange but I got a tooth brush and rubbed it on my hands all over it to try to get my scent on it. At first he would attack it every time but after a few weeks he started liking it. Now he will sit for as long as I want to brush hum and best if all he will let me pet him and has not bitten since. however he is about 6 months old and I still cannot pick him up often. I started picking him up by putting a sock, I though he could still smell me but not get a hold of my skin quite so easily then after a few weeks I was able to pick him up with my hand if needed but not when he's in his cage only when he's out playing. Smokey was a serious bitter he would not just bite and let go he would dig his teeth in and jerk around to tear at my skin. I am so happy that has stopped it really was painful lol. Just 2 small tips that maybe could help someone else
I am so glad to hear twilight is warming up to you!
