Introducing my awesome hamsters!
I'm new to the forum and wanted to introduce my hamsters.
At a local pet store near our home there were a few Campbell's Russian Dwarf Hamsters that were free for adoption. They'd been left in a box outside the store after hours. After seeing them there for awhile and discussing their health and temperament with the manager, we adopted the older two boys of the five.
These two are incredibly tame! I've had Campbells before that were really cranky, but these two boys are gems! They love to come out the tank and run around. They are virtually clones of each other. Aristotle is more active. Archimedes prefers his nest, but when they are together, they are indistinguishable from each other and I have to go by behavior to tell them apart. Their fur is extremely soft and they look like motorized cotton balls! We are all really enjoying them.

Hey Bailey. Aww those are some wicked looking hams. They look just like my little albino rescue, Marley.
They are very sweet. Awesome names by the way!

Oh hey Baily! They are lovely and the names are just terrific! I've always said dwarf hammies look like cotton balls with feet, so your description of them as "motorized cotton balls" was perfect. Welcome to the forum.

Re: New to forum; introducing my awesome hamsters!
Thanks all! I don't know where I came up with the names. I just started with "A" and then thought ancient Greece, and they came to me. Wanted something that matches, kind of, since they look so similar.
Does anyone think it's a myth that Campbell's are usually fussy? I've had grumpy Campbell's, but these two are so gentle. And I think they are full or mostly Campbell, not WW. I would like to get more in the future, but I'd prefer they be this tame. I do not know their background since they were just dumped outside of the store.

Re: New to forum; introducing my awesome hamsters!
We went out of town for a few days and missed these guys terribly! They are still just as sweet after not being handled for a few days and they have even grown a bit. I sure hope they continue to get along so well.
Today, I went back to see if their siblings were still at the shop. They got new homes, but I adopted a gorgeous hybrid girl and will post in that section....
