Default Plastikote convert

I don't currently have a hamster having lost Eddie at Christmas, but I adopted a little gerbil man from the blue cross shortly after, unable to bear the empty vivarium.

I've never had trouble potty training hamsters so pee soaked wooden shelves we're never an issue. Ziggy the gerbil is a whole different kettle of fish. Peeing obsessively on his shelves.

Thankfully having been on this forum for a few years I had heard of the wonders of plastikote. And boy am I converted. It took me a matter of minutes to do two coats in a smart gloss black that matches the vivarium trim.

Ziggy is not bothered but I am definitely looking forward to easier cleaning.

Thank you forumites for discovering and sharing the wonders of such a great product. Consider me converted!

I am also a convert - for some time! I was very suspicious about the idea at first and preferred risking pee'd on shelves But the little pots are virtually odourless - even to my sensitive nose - paint on so quickly and easily and really do keep wood clean and wipe clean! Black sounds interesting - photos please! I have tended to stick to the clear but did use garden green once. Interestingly the finish seemed shinier on the green than the clear.

Here it is. Of course he's now had a day kicking sand all over it but I'm still really happy with how it looks with the exo terra trim.
