Default Mesh Questions

I'm currently getting ready to mesh both a diy bin carrier and the lid to my ZZ2. I have some questions though;
I have a lot of stainless steel window screening- would this be ok to use or could a hamster chew through it?
If the screening isn't ok then which mesh should I get- 1/4?

I don't know how strong window screening is but i'd try and cut it to get an idea of its strength.

I use the 0.5in mesh for the bin cages i make.

Ria P's idea is a very good one! I'd def also check how rough the wire is - some wire mesh is not smoothly finished, and if your lil one does give it a chew, rough wire could really hurt their nose, tongue, mouth and teeth.
