Default Xmas tree storage boxes are in at Wilko

For those who like a bin cage and long for the Xmas tree storage boxes in the UK, Wilko's have them!

I don't know if they're online but I just spotted them in store. Can't confirm the dimensions but they look big enough for a Syrian wheel and still lots of space.

Bin cages aren't my thing but thought I would share for those who have the skills.

I use these, but dwarfs only. For the last year.
I did try them for syrian playpen but she didn't like the lack of space, very narrow.
The box tapperes at the botton to top, getting wider.

6 inches of bedding fits well, could fit more.

Both of my dwarfs are happy and show no signs of stress, excess running, chewing ect.
They do get time outside of home daily.

Living in the UK it can be hard to find large boxes.
We've just moved her downstairs where its warmer, so took some bedding out (was heavy to carry) temporary place to put her home.

Very snazzy PK. I love your set up.

I didn't measure them when I saw them I guess they look bigger when empty. Lol. I just got excited for those who love bin cages and had to share.

The sand bath bottle and submerged pie are great ideas!

The ghost was a Halloween tea-light holder, poundland or wilkos.
It's a great way to have cute cheap hides, check theirs no sharp points limbs can get caught in thou.
Especially good for dwarfs and some larger ones are good for syrians which can be difficult to find for.

Dunelm (10), Staples (11.15) and Hobbycraft (13) sell christmas boxes also. The dimensions are 82x25x15cm.

I like these, but I am unsure if they are wide enough. I've also been looking at boxes from ikea. Some have the WXH but depth of around 15-18cm. I wonder if height is important when creating a bin cage?

The Wilko ones were definitely bigger than that.

They look like Wham boxes, so the question is the actual size. Even the larger 110l Wham boxes, 115l with wheel Wham boxes, and "extra large" 133l Wham boxes are quite small internally. To truly understand why they may seem larger at first glance, I'll show the internal and external dimensions of the Wham 133l box which is likely the same box with a different lid color(and keep in mind the smaller sizes are significantly smaller still).

Internal dimensions are as follows: 88 cm length, 29 cm width, 40 cm height
External dimensions: 100 cm length, 40 cm width, 42 cm height

This is typical of plastic bins as a whole. Internal and external dimensions are often significantly different, so even if a bin claimed to be an external 100 cm x 50 cm that doesn't mean it offers 100 cm x 50 cm of floor space. At roughly 395.56 square inches internally, it is a very small bin which as a result makes it clear that it just should not be used to permanently house hamsters. I do still think it could make a decent play bin for some hamsters.
