DIY sand bath
I thought I would share a sand bath I made for my Syrian I知 getting soon. I used plastic for now and if the hamster takes to it or uses it I will either turf the idea or duplicate it using terra-cotta. The nice thing about this design is you can create it for any size hamster. I知 going to use it on a platform with the ceiling plum up under the ceiling of the cage so I知 saving space. I will use the area under it for placing logs, boredom breakers etc. I知 not able to attach a picture of it right now because the resolution is too big but will do so when I can. I took a 28cm diameter clay brown plant holder tray and then found a pot holder the same color and turned it upside down...it looks very similar to a bird feeder minus the perches sticking out. I thought it would help to keep the sand from being kicked out. Looking forward to trying it out

Re: DIY sand bath
The only issue I find with clay / terracotta is that if the hammy uses it as a potty the urine does soak in and it is impossible to wash the smell out of them! I tend to stick with ceramic or glazed pottery wear.
