Hamster Pouch Fabrics
I have really wanted to make my little guy a pouch because he likes sleeping in my hats but I don’t want him peeing in them but I don’t know whether there are any fabrics that would be unsafe for him so I’m wandering if there are any you could recommend or any that I should definitely not use

Re: Hamster Pouch Fabrics
When making anything fabric for my hamsters I like to stick mainly to fleece, due to it not fraying into strands like cotton fabric does.
Although anything fabric should never be used unsupervised or left in their cage as hamster will often chew up fabric item and try to pouch pieces which can be harmful especially if accidentally swallowed.
Also welcome to Hamster Central!

Re: Hamster Pouch Fabrics
If it’s for out of cage time, most materials are fine to be used- granted you’re absolutely sure they’re not chewing. As mentioned above, to be safe, all my pouches are made from fleece. While fleece is still dangerous if chewed, it tends to be he safest of all fabric options.
