Smile D.i.y ikea billy cage

It looks good. Did you make a lid? If would be easy for your hamster to escape, by climbing on the hide or water bottle.

I agree, looks very nice. I like that you you show the whole process, most videos don't actually show this

What are the diamensions? Also what ventilation is there on the bottom layer?

Yes there is a lid on the cage as i have 2 cats also

there is plenty of ventilation on the bottom of the cage the two cages only meet at the sides which leave to big gaps along the front at the glass and along the back of the cage also.


Dimensions are 80x35x28 per cage,
cage is also a lot bigger than my 110L Bin Cage.

Thank you, i like to show people what actually goes into making cages and how i have done certain things like adding the tube...

I used two billy cages but made a large rectangle instead. My hamster loves it but I am concerned about the height. I have to make a new lid but until then I have a board that coveres the half with the wheel and the other half is left open for ventilation... are open tops okay? I do not have other pets and he does not care about escaping ��

Open topped cages are just never a good idea with any pet.You cannot predict escapes,and even if you don't have other pets there are endless household dangers that a tiny hamster could encounter

i just think with this cage a lid is needed as you say it is not very high so makes for easy breakouts i would still say build a lid for your cage :P

yeah he is a lucky boy , actually thinking of extending it just now to sure yet though.
