Rust-oleum painter's touch and mod podge
Planning some colourful crafting later today and wondered if anyone had advice about the use of:
Rust-oleum painter's touch - a water based, certified toy safe paint.
Mod podge, matte water based sealer, glue and finish. states it is non toxic.
A quick google search doesn't lead me to believe either are of great concern but would appreciate anyone's input.
Thanks in advance

Re: Rust-oleum painter's touch and mod podge
I wouldn't use them at all for pet items. For general crafting you could certainly use them, but just not for anything that a pet,for example a hamster, would ingest or even have the tiniest possibility of chewing.
Keep in mind that non toxic is far from non toxic to hamsters. There are many things a human can have and not get ill or die, while hamsters on the other hand would potentially die or at least get quite ill if they had them.Just assuming that something is safe by being non toxic is a very bad idea,as you'd need to know everything that is in the product to actually be able to say for sure that it is truly safe.

I wouldn't use either, about the only tried & tested things which are known to be safe are Plastikote water based brush on enamel & cuprinol garden shades paint.

Re: Rust-oleum painter's touch and mod podge
I remember reading somewhere that Rustoleum Painter's Touch was safe to use however I don't see mention of it used that frequently so I'd personally stick with the Plastikote or the Cuprinol Garden Shades.

Thanks to those who responded so quickly.
You've convinced me it is worth investing in the plastikote range instead.
Just a shame since I have about 12 shades in the rust-oleum range..
But the last thing I want to do is compromise Lil's health and wellbeing!
